It isn't about who invented what first, it's about structures of trade, of communication, of improving on what others made. So while the east had a solid 6 thousand year headstart, the West exceeded that multiple times over in the 500+ years since the renaissance. In literacy, in volume of writing, in collaboration, etc. We're thankful for what our brothers in the East started, but the West built on it and exceeded it.
The real reason for the West being ahead has to do with the Hebrews being the primary driving force of history and being situated in the West for practically all of history. This is truth no one will accept.

If you've studied, even at a basic level, the history of math, science, philosophy, etc. you'd know the answer to be the western world and that it isn't really even close.
