Why are so many people content to divide their lifetime between working & breeding? That's bad enough. Millions are barely getting by.

Why are so many people content to divide their lifetime between working & breeding?
It's like, ok, we're born into this modern capitalist hellscape where you have to wage slave to survive. That's bad enough. Millions are barely getting by. But perhaps you find yourself lucky enough to do something that doesn't suck & pays decent. Now you have at least some ability to do the things that make life slightly more palatable, like travel, hobbies, and the like. So what do you do? Breed more slaves, the rearing of which eats up all your surplus time & money. I just don't get it.

You do something to aid your survival (exercise, eating) you get rewarded by the brain with feel-good chemicals.

that's cause you haven't been paying attention. You are like a man that is never hungry. Every time you feel a little bit of hunger, you immediately satisfy your hunger with ready-to-eat meals. You ask "what is the point of eating? I don't get it. Eating is so boring". But you fail to realize that in order to feel satisfied, you have to be hungry first. Food is boring to you because you are never hungry.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that you have to struggle in order to enjoy life. Your life is tasteless because you don't have to struggle for anything. All of your needs are satisfied. You eat the best, most tasty food. You watch entertainment and play games. You listen to great music. You can read thousands of books at any moment. You enjoy coffee whenever you feel like it. How do you expect to feel any sort of accomplishment and meaning without having to struggle? Struggling is a human need. The countries with the highest living standards are also suffering from suicide.

          Anonymous

Interesting, though I don't quite agree. By and large, I thing people are still struggling. The real question is, what are we struggling for? The imaginary line to go up? To enable billionaires to compare space dicks? There's no real incentive.

            Anonymous

People are struggling but they are not _really_ struggling. You struggle everyday at work. Why? So you can pay $1100 in rent (average usa rent in 2020). So you can buy a $1500 phone and pay $100 per month on streaming services. So you can buy $8 coffees each day.
You are struggling because you want the latest shit. The truth is, our current cost of living is hundreds of times higher than it should be. Using current technology, we should be able to grow most of our food and satisfy our basic needs without making $100k a year. The biggest reason we don't is because we look down upon such a humble life. We want to drive cool cars, even though a Lada Niva costs 10-25 thousand dollars and will last you a lifetime if you take care of it.
This is the era of the internet! You can learn _any_ skill you want. You can become an expert gardener in no time. Just download a few good books from a pirate site and get to work. Information is more available than ever.
            >what are we struggling for?
Well, that's the problem you have to figure out. This question has little to do with suffering. Whether you are a peasant living in 900AD or a billionaire living in 2022, this question will haunt you. You need philosophy if you ever hope to find a reason to live. Personally, I recognize that I am going to die, so I try to live a happy, moral and full life. Committing suicide is nonsensical because I am going to die anyway. Life is an extraordinary, rare phenomenon that I wish to enjoy with all its suffering and its pleasures. Also, I am convinced that having kids is one of the most meaningful things a person can do. Can you imagine having a discussion with a person that you helped create? It's surreal.

I was talking about the first part of the post. The reality is most people have little free time or even a good environment to be autodidacts. • 2 years ago
            Anonymous

Yeah, even the first part of my post was about happiness. Perhaps I didn't make that clear enough. I was trying to point out that sometimes we are struggling because of our own fault. All we have to do to be happier is to stop struggling. There's no need to work at a job you don't like just so you can afford overtly expensive crap. In other words, there's a difference between struggling for survival and struggling for an iphone, a BMW and a $1500/mo apartment. That was the point I was trying to make. I was talking about being rich or independent.
            >The reality is most people have little free time or even a good environment to be autodidacts
I'd say some people have very little free time, that's true. But I would disagree with the notion that most people can't spend 1 hour per day to read a book and learn a new skill. You have no idea how much time the average person wastes on youtube alone. Never mind netflix, facebook, instagram etc. Yes, self-teaching is impossible for some people, but I wouldn't say that's the case for most people.

People in the past rutted like beasts and had children by instinct, there was no Netflix and no contraception/legal abortion so what happened naturally just happened.

Also the main reason IMHO why birth rates in developed countries have collapsed is that most goyim are cooped up in schools and colleges of some kind well into their twenties, and while they're increasingly co-ed the last half century or so, the messaging on condoms and not getting (girls) pregnant has worked all too well.

Young men and women naturally want to do all the sexy stuff (including actually having kids) the most at a young age, like between around 15 and 25. Once this window closes, not just intense lust, but all the youthful emotions of desire, hope, ambition, and all of that slowly start to fade and dry up.

By the time the average man or woman is like 31 and has a decent(ish) job and thinking about "settling down," they don't want to. Men worry about stress, their retirement, being betrayed/annoyed to death etc. by a woman, women worry about what pregnancy will do to them, having to deal with crying babies in the middle of the night and all that bullshit especially now that they're older and don't sleep soundly anymore and so on.

Living through salaried employment is unfulfilling and tedious, I can't stop resenting it, and would start to resent it even more if I had a wife and children and was in a position where I couldn't take a break or at least switch jobs easily.

The usual argument is that 'since you have to work, you might as well have a family while you're at it,' but realistically you will have to work much harder and more steadily if you add the burden of supporting others to the burden of supporting yourself that you already have.

Basically, I drew the short straw by not being born into property. I don't blame my parents for this, but to be honest I still don't want to work anymore than I have to and there are no realistic prospects of getting my money the easy/lazy way (for example, I refuse to engage in crime), so my bloodline ends with me.

I have worked libraries most my entire life. Stress free, mostly nice people, bad incidents from time to time but no more than anywhere else. If I had a retail job or a high stressed business job, yeah a crying baby might be the straw that broke my back. Lucky my baby super chill too and I have a large pool of women in my family who can help as well.

me too, Anon but I think those who have kids are just a different caste of people, they find their answers there, we don't or maybe we are just incels

Their neo cortex is less developed than ours, i don't mean to insult them but they are close to gorillas who are also just content by sitting in the jungle, eating bananas, breeding, and caring for each other. They want to continue it just for the sake of continuation.

Sometimes I wonder if human level consciousness is more of a curse than a blessing. It's almost like being so self-aware inevitably leads to misery.

That's saying too much, I'm a moron myself

That's basically what I am, except for work.
(Any legit work-from-home opportunities out there? Because then I'd never leave the house.)

But do you seek enlightment? The solitude thing is good but it should serve a purpose

I feel the same way. As a species, we're kind of between a rock & a hard place - smart enough to ask the big questions, but not enough to find definitive answers to them.

Because you need to consider the societal harm refusing to work or breed causes. Your utopia is incredibly selfish and childish.

      >dont breed
      >all humans die out
      >no more human suffering
      >therefore no more harm of any kind
I dont know, seems alot less harmful than continuing a perpetually shitty system

Some people will still have kids so "all humans die out" would be an extremely long and painful process.

    >where you have to wage slave to survive
No you don't, you fell for memes like "muh contribution to society" and "if I don't own a very expensive car I'm a loser" and then chose that path. Daily reminder that there IS an alternative.

Yes, yes, nihilists are right, everything is shit, god is dead, everything is a meaningless social construct, yadda yadda. However.. what is the connection between things being shit and you swigging the silksoi?

The r*dditors who come here to preach this revelatory world view, why are they all such fricking pussies? They whine and cry and b***h and that's it. Why would you actually want to be one of these nihilist virtue signalling fakewoke fakeoutrage anti-natalist vegan r*dditor soibs?

You should be disgusted with the notion of cucking out and tranquilizing yourself with mindless hedonism. It is a fate worse than being a wageslave busting his ass trying to make ends meet for ungrateful wife and kids. So you escape for a while by smoking weed and fricking your fat bluehair open relationship girlfriend before watching the next capeshit slop with grubhub pizza and your furbabies nestled in your lap, but you are still a worthless excuse for a human being, that will never leave you, you will die knowing it. None of it compares to your alternate self, when his kids are 4 and 6 and his wife isn't quite a b***h yet and they take a little holiday, the fact that for a short time those 3 people were happy. They were not merely trying to drown out some nagging pain, there was none, this was their time.

Yes life is shit, but you're going to do it anyway, you're going to go out with this newfound knowledge it is shit and better prepared with a higher chance of success. Instead of timidly pacing forwards as you have been raised to do, you do it out of choice, you march forwards, and when life inevitably kicks you in the nuts you bludgeon its face in until it gets out of the way or your stubborn rebellion against the fate you have been sown summons nemesis herself to put an end to you.

Actually I was thinking more along the lines of being a scientist, explorer, philosopher, human rights leader, that sort of thing.
The universe is 13.7 billion years old, humans live for a miniscule 3 score & 10. And most spend it working jobs they hate in a system that is based on exploiting other people & destroying the environment that sustains them. And having kids for all the wrong reasons.
It's the ne plus ultra of cringe.
