Why are we here? Why are we conscious? Why are we limited beings?

Why are we here? Why are we conscious? Why are we limited beings? Why is everything so overwhelming and confusing in this reality? Why does suffering exist? Why do we have to die? The further I dive into religion, philosophy and such things, the more confused I get. Everyone and their mother is having an answer, but none can prove it to be true. Everyone just claims to be right. Reality is a weird place. Only agnosticism is intellectually honest, but probably also the most unsatisfying view.

I find it absurd to think that an benevolent and all knowing God would punish me with eternal hell for not believing in him when the evidence is sorely lacking and there are, at best, only indications of him existing.

      >Only agnosticism is intellectually honest, but probably also the most unsatisfying view.
      It's not a view. It's a placeholder for one.

Nobody's stopping you from finding evidence for yourself.
Misery for those who reject eternal goodness makes perfect sense.

        >It's not a view. It's a placeholder for one.
Not op but I’m with him, the best answer with the information we have is “I don’t know if gods exist” though of course you can write off Zeus, Ahura Mazda, Tengri the horned one, Yahweh, Rhiannon, Hermes, Odin, Thor, Shiva, Quetzalcoatl, and thousands of other characters made up by tribes in the past.
The very concept of a universe creator though? Can’t write it off at this time.

          >the best answer with the information we have is “I don’t know if gods exist”
Which is not an answer whatsoever. It's an inability to arrive at one.
          >you can write off [traditional deities]
If you feel you have direct evidence, sure.

            >Which is not an answer whatsoever. It's an inability to arrive at one.
Which is an answer in itself, “I don’t know for sure” Doesn’t matter if it’s not satisfying to you, it is what it is.

Also you don’t need to disprove claims that beings exist, otherwise you would be forced into believing or unsure of the existence of any being that anyone claims exists.
The burden of proof here is on anyone claiming a being exists.

No, Anon. Being on your way to an answer doesn't mean you arrived to one already.

            >you don’t need to disprove claims
Perhaps. But you need to prove the ones you make. Contrary to NeoAtheists' belief, negative claims have a burden too.

Sometimes “I don’t know” is the correct answer and any other is an unjustifiable and dishonest leap of faith.
I mean the mindset that it’s impossible for people to not know the answer to a question is profoundly immature and inexperienced. There are unknowns in life anon.

I'm not arguing against the existence of unknowns. I'm arguing that there's a difference between having an answer and not having one.

Cool anon well let’s end this semantic exchange and say it’s an unknown and no one has an answer.
With that established your best bet is to enjoy life which is probably going to entail furthering the happiness of your loved ones and self and improving your community.

    1. Stop assuming that causality is an actual, existing law of reality
    2. Realize that this is not an inherent contradiction and the absence of causality can still lead to patterns of causality
    3. Realize that asking “why?” no longer makes sense.

    >Why are we here? Why are we conscious? Why are we limited beings?
    So that we can suffer.
    >Why is everything so overwhelming and confusing in this reality? Why does suffering exist? Why do we have to die?
So we have something to do(suffer).
