I guess the conflict that raged for huge part of 18th century of Indian history as the Mughal empire was collapsing was just about tourism, smallpox not being real and 3000 kcal per day then.

Part of it was the British, but a bigger part of it was the leaders that led the Pakistan Movement, who were overwhelmingly Shias and agnostics and only used Islam as a political tool, that only ended up hurting Muslims.

They should have gone further and made several smaller Indian nations along linguistic lines. Or maybe intervened when Indian nationalists forced the princely states to join.

You're right. If you're going to partition the subcontinent, then having a giant superstate in the middle is problematic.

Northeast India and parts of Western Myanmar should have become one country.
Parts of South India could have become their own country.

It’s not a problem when your “superstate” is a garbage dump full of low iq street shitters

Considering the independent Indian state literally invaded any parts of the old colony that didn’t want to join their new country, trying to split India up more would have been impossible, it was the Indians who decided they wanted the unified state after all. Thanks to the British unifying what was previously a huge mix of diverse people’s

pic related, newly independent India invaded Hyderabad in 1948 when it said no to joining India

The British didn't do no such shit. They just occupied and manipulated the systems created by the preceding empires.

The biggest mistake done by the British wasn't the partition, it was allowing the Princely States to choose which nation they're willing to join.

You are assuming the British were actually under control of anything. They were just mere spectators.

They really only gave a choice to Hyderabad and Jammu-Kashmir though, and even then they (wrongly) assumed that the ruler of Hyderabad would see reason and voluntarily join India instead of remaining independent/joining Pakistan

    >why did the British force Indians and Muslims apart, causing them to hate each other
    >why did the British force African ethnicities to live together instead of making 1500 seperate countries for each one, causing them to hate each other
Maybe they just hate each other because they hate each other?

Hindus and Muslims were at war before the British came. Muslims are the greatest enemy of Hindus besides the Anglo
