Just because the great leap forward was how china industrialized doesn't mean that it was the only way to industrialize; there are plenty of countries which industrialized without starving at least 15 million people to death. In fact, i may be so bold as to say that almost every country that industrialized have done so without starving 3% of their population in a man-made famine, in the latter part 20th century too.

Indian agriculture heavily depended on weather, so when the british diversified indias subsistence farming based economy to produce other crops like opium and other valuable productd, and crops happened to fail, you get famine. While it didnt help that the brits didnt give a frick about famine relief initially, its in no way related at all to british industrialization, especially since british industrialization happened in, you know, great fricking britain, not india. You would make a far better point if the brits made farmers leave and become industrial workers by gunpoint and then famine happened, but even in the case of brits diversifying the indian economy, the farmers CHOSE to make other crops because of financial incentives of exporting produce.
