Liberalism is not the defintion of good. Morally neutral, it is just the ruling ideology of our day. The Germans as a practical and sensible people may just be good at adhering to whatever ideology is in power.
I for one have kind of nostalgia for the times the European nations, including the Germans, thought it proper to be themselves without obfuscation.
