Russia has nothing to do with Rus. They were geographically disconnected from Kievan Rus for over 500 years but retroactively decided to call themselves its successor and continuation.
They were geographically cut off in the 1200s when the Golden Horde expanded westward, then the Russian Tsardom was founded in the 1500s, and conquered Ukraine in the 1700s (including the Crimean Khanate).
Poles actually believe that anyone who shows even a little resemblance of pro-Russian sentiment in any field, even unrelated to the current events, is some Yurii from Irkutsk paid by Kremlin to sit on the IQfy spreading muh propaganda under the guise of the VPN all day. They can not fathom the concept of other people not seething at just the thought of Russia existing there somewhere in the background.
