I mean guaranteed 100MBps+ download everytime for like 5 bucks a month all included is not so bad.
I also do torrent though, because depending on what I'm looking for, it might sometimes be available only on torrent trackers, or only on Usenet.

Quick question for heavy torrenters. What's the fricking deal with private trackers?
        >have to seed up to a certain ratio or you get the boot
        >nearly impossible to seed because there's literally 343904728937432649 chinese guys with bots automatically getting every single new torrent posted, downloading it within 2 minutes and the seeding it forever on a much stronger machine and better connection than you
Am I missing something here? I have gathered a list of public trackers that cover most of my needs, so I'm fine with my situation, but my short foray into private trackers left me confused as frick.

Usenet is garbage and you need to pay for it also? What a joke. I know you are a leechgay and that's why you pay for usenet.

What's garbage about it? It has most of what I want and the download speed is guaranteed.
Also read the rest of my post. I seed on public trackers, but on private I couldn't even manage to get anything to seed.

            Anonymous

You cannot seed on private trackers because you are a moron. For morons usenet is always an option. You know how to use usenet clients but you cannot set up a torrent client. You don't even know what RSS is. Most private trackers only ask you to seed only 48 hours. A bunch of morons are incapable to do that. They think they must also have a 1:1 ratio on the same torrent when it is not a requirement. You either seed 48 hours or ratio 1:1. RSS also exists. You can keep up with the "343904728937432649 chinese guys". There's literally no bots. Just clients set up properly to grab TV shows the moment they are uploaded.

So stop crying because private trackers are better than usenet. Especially if you have access to a lot of private trackers worldwide. You can pretty much get everything you need.

            Anonymous

That defeats the entire purpose of piracy. Piracy should be finding a magnet link and pasting it onto your client until you upload an exact copy of your file to a peer.

            Anonymous

            >He still pastes magnet link in a torrent client rather than clicking on the magnet link.
Yep. You have autism. AND you don't have access to quality trackers where you can find seeders. Keep on relying on shitty public trackers and paying for usenet access.

            Anonymous

Why? It's like two thirds of a Netflix subscription except with a much wider catalogue of all sorts of media.
A lot of specialized private torrent trackers are already tough to get in (thinking of the ones where you have to pass interviews like RED), and then adhering to the rules can be complex even if you're actually trying.
            See

Yeah, I tried IPTorrents because it was the only one I found that I could get into by paying instead of an invite, which had some freeleech, but those were never seeding, even when leaving them running for weeks.
Seems to me like that game is kinda locked in by "big players" which I can never compete with, so it just seems simpler to just pay a few bucks a month and avoid that entire hassle.

. I did set up automatic grabs of the latest shit and/or freeleech, but even after running those for over 2 weeks (as required by the tracker), they would usually only seed a couple MBs. And I only have a small home server already running a bunch of other services so I can't really afford to keep hundreds of torrents I don't care about running constantly. So public trackers fill most of my needs (and I do seed there because most of the time even a 6 yo music album will still have a few people I can seed to) and Usenet to help with what I can't find there.

Interviews filter out leechers and homosexuals with shitty connections. Totally fine with strict rules and invite systems. Also glad that a bunch of trackers will take away your download rights if you hit and run shit.

Plus you don't even need to pay a single penny if you are into Netflix. Popcorn time was a thing and now Stremio with Torrentio addon. It is pretty much the same thing if you are only after movies. You don't need usenet nor access to private trackers.

            >It is pretty much the same thing if you are only after movies.

You don't have access to top private trackers, you don't seed on the private trackers. How are you supposed to pass an interview? It is the cleanest way to get access to top trackers for free. Plebs will have to suck dicks for invites like always.

If you don't know torrent etiquette don't expect passing the interviews. You can have fast internet, but that means absolutely nothing if you have CGNAT and you are incapable to port forward, let alone wanting to seed.

So yeah! Have fun dealing with retention dates and finding stuff elsewhere if you cannot find the content you want at your usenet provider.

            Anonymous

Extremely weird and slightly demented answer, anon, but sure I'll be fine with my set up and you feel free to remain a cool "non-pleb" because you use private trackers.

It depends on the tracker, only some of them have a ratio economy that strict. A lot of them have some kind of bonus-point system where seeding time can be converted to ratio even in the absence of anyone downloading from you, or theres some kind of system where some torrents are freelech, or so on.

The country where I live, the download speed from international trackers are pretty low. So there is a private tracker with 300000+ members where there is no bandwith cap for local bandwith.
Also the community is dedicated enough to have old movies and shows with complete pacs having a lot of seeds.

            Anonymous

The Bittorrent spec does not define standards for all of its aspects. Piece size is undefined. That it should even be a binary value isn't specified. So it is left to the individual developers to work it out between them.
Piece size must be limited to avoid undefined behavior. Not supporting arbitrary values isn't a bug, but shows the client was well programmed.
If you try to load a torrent file with an out of bounds piece size, uTorrent 2.2.1 doesn't crash, it just pops up an error notification that the torrent file isn't supported. That is the hallmark of a well designed program.

Other developers trying to break compatibility trying to create a walled garden for their broken clients isn't a positive feature.

No it doesn't. The most that can be done is bring up a password prompt after spoofing a local IP. That ability can be disabled, and WebUI functionality is intact.
