I have studied Proto-Germanic, but that is not yet spoken and not in this area. However, we should be fairly close to Proto-Celtic which would be present here, and I can probably use my knowledge of ancient Indo-European to work it out very quickly. "Civilization" at this point is in Iraq, which is gonna be a while. Can I just settle down here instead maybe?

This paper told nothing new but I do agree with their take on Yamnaya>Greek without other migration. Also IE came from Europe, oldest swastikas are from Europe, more than 10k years old.

The only languages that I could possibly learn in the modern day in a real manner that would be useful for this time period would be Egyptian, Hittite or Ancient Aramaic.

    >1200 BC
literally 10 years from the bronze age collapse, there is still time to follow trade routes, I'd become some proto-Celtic Chad warrior's close friend as he guards donkeys carrying tin to the Mediterranean, then board some Mycenaean merchant vessel and befriend the captain, passing the days working out with him on deck and helping to oil him, eventually we would reach the Eastern Mediterranean and finally Egypt, civilization

I act like a stereotypical American and tell them they should all speak American English. Then I either get sacrificed or I die of some disease that has never been a problem in my lifetime.
