100% Alcohol Where To Find

Does anybody know a legitimate source of 100% alcohol that isn't a scam? When I go on ebay, there are tons of listings that claim to be 99% isopropyl alcohol, but they may be lying. I would need this for careful work with electronics.

Something like 99.9% would be decent, but I imagine it would be pretty expensive. Still, a legitimate source of 99% would be nice. It would be fine if the rest were distilled water, but it probably wouldn't be.

Everclear/Graves is USP 96% ethanol that you can buy in a liquor store

How much do you lose through excise taxes? Do people actually use that for practical purposes? The other 4% probably isn't distilled water. The rest would have to be water without any electrolytes.

It's like 16 bucks for 750ml and you can also drink it. I use it for cleaning electronics and haven't broken anything yet.

Can't you get a lower purity one and distill the water out of it?

      How would you do that?

Water forms an azeotrope with ethanol at 96% ethanol concentration. You need a drying agent to rid the remaining water. 3A mole seives/magnesium sulfate should work

If you had 100%, it would immediately absorb water from the atmosphere, bringing it down to 96% or so

      Why would it do that?

I buy 99% rubbing alcohol at the local drug store every few weeks to clean my glasses. Do they not sell it in your area? Literally every pharmacy carries it here.

      >clean my glasses
You aren't doing a good job of cleaning those glasses since the stuff they sell over the counter at pharmacies is only 91%.

Are you literally moronic? The pharmacy sells 70%, 91%, and 99%. I buy the 99%.
