The sweet spot for the human eye where it can no longer see a single pixel is 32k resolution on a 32 inch screen. Thats the holy grail of DPI

    >Porn
lol, if you have to ask ...
    >16K 15,360x8,640
    >Why
come on, 105" TVs barely can do 8K
    >Why not?
Not very many people own drive-in theatres.
    >Is there a point where ``Resolution'' stops being noticable
Yes, when you close your eyes.

    >Is there a point where Resolution stops being noticable
yes. past 4K, it's basically a waste of resources when accounting for pixels-per-degree and human eyesight

You said the same thing for 1080p.

No one said that for 1920x1080.

no i didn't. 8K is actually a reduction in information for the vast majority of people. 4K is genuinely the endgame

          Anonymous

how does 8k reduce information if 4k didnt?
most people run 4k monitors at 150%+ scaling, they arent getting any additional information out of them except in slightly expanded screen real estate

            Anonymous

because our eyesight will not parse all of it and the information is lost

            Anonymous

Because 4K on say a 27" monitor at a normal ~30" distance is 90PPD, which is basically as good as it gets for anybody who doesn't very exceptional eyesight, like 1% of the population. Apples Retina displays are 57PPD and they look great already, as an example.

I can perfectly imagine some people I know talking endlessly about how their new 16K TV is so much better than other people's TV because bla bla bla and getting mad when I answer that I don't see the difference and ask where the frick they find 16K content to watch on this.

  8. 2 weeks ago

Depends on screen size, distance between user and screen, etc. Plus it's pointless going bigger than 4k right now anyway due to the lack of content that can take advantage of a larger resolution

also I prefer my porn in very low resolution, so you can imagine details better than they actually are, your imagination is always better than reality. The best of the best being pixel art porn.

I'm with this Anon. After watching UHD and VR videos, I realized that I really don't want to see that level of detail. Give me the blur back. Slather Vaseline on those camera lenses.

Nah not really 4K porn is something else..

depends on how wide you want your content to be when viewing
for the typical cinema screen width of 40° FoV, 4k is just about enough to be unable to distinguish pixels, so for classic movies 8k already gives you plenty of headroom

Depends on screen size and viewing distance, idiot
You can only give a limit in angular resolution

  12. 2 weeks ago

There's a point where higher resolution starts becoming undesirable, especially so with porn
Do you really wanna see every single skin pore, every stray hair and each chip in her teeth?

I'm not wasting my data on anything more than 720p. My provider starts throttling after I use up 100GB of traffic.

    >Is there a point where Resolution stops being noticable
When it comes to captured video, 1080p.
Most 4K footage is noisy garbage, let alone 8K/16K. 4K and up only make sense for photography or 3D animated stuff.

That's irrelevant. Videos should be zoomable.

    Yes. Apple calls this "Retina"

    >Is there a point where Resolution stops being noticable
Yes. When the pixel size at the distance that the screen is gets to the point where your fovea can't discriminate the angle any more.
It's not a fixed resolution: it depends on how far the device is from your eyes as well. (Only the fovea matters for this; the rest of your retina has lower resolution but your brain does postprocessing to make up for it.)
