i'm not going to find a link for you but microsoft absolutely said windows 10 would be the last "major" version and they were moving closer to a rolling release system.
i figure it was a last ditch effort to make the operating system itself remain profitable by adding subscription fees or some shit. i believe they've publicly conceded that windows the operating system is now unprofitable as a standalone product, but exists as a platform/delivery-mechanism for ads and software which do generate profit
>i'm not going to find a source for you but microsoft absolutely said windows 10 would NOT be the last "major" version when they were moving closer to a rolling release system.
I hate that I am forced to use Windows for certain applications because they don't work properly on LInux and will be forced to continue doing so even as Windows manages to make itself even worse. Its not awful now and most of the programs I use can be run in Linux, but god are the edge cases where I need to boot up windows painful.
Well maybe if Microsoft wasn't so hellbent on making Windows worse at ever opportunity I wouldn't prefer using an OS 'for servers' instead of the latest Windows edition.
>Microsoft wasn't so hellbent on making Windows worse at ever opportunity
And how does that manifest itself? I don't see any significant changes since Vista. The interface changes a bit and that's it.
My edge cases also include a small handful of Multiplayer games that would ban you for using vm. At that point easier to just have a separate drive for windows or a separate PC.
i havent had that problem in 10 years or more. i was trying to imagine what scenario windows is actually necessary now and i can't think of one. even atms running fricked up ancient windows xp software run that inside a virtual machine on linux these days
I really hope not

Linux is a firmware for routers and servers. It should not have desktop applications.
