strange esoteric hardware. actually i am using linux on an ancient Apple TV (1st gen). the one that used an intel x86 processor. I managed to install Debian Bookworm on it, but it has a strange issue where network performance scales with CPU load. This makes it so if i want to have decent download speeds on it, i need to have a constant load of 60% or greater on the CPU. I've never seen anything like it.

      I'm using debian with plasma
For work, I use either my corpo laptop with win11 or my Windows VM with office pro, teams and all that jazz.
LibreOffice is not even close to Excell
they should just frickin' clone excell instead of doing their own thing

      My time isn't worthless.

Spinned up a linux image again yesterday since I had some free time to try out KDE Plasma 6, and once again, left disappointed because it's a buggy blurry mess. Linux will never be usable until you dumb freetard monkeys figure out how to make your stupid fricking silly billy text rendering look normal like on windows. You stupid fricking homosexuals.

I would like to but.. Let's say I need some specific app that does something. I'm looking on the internet, find one, go to torrents, install/crack it and it does exactly what I need. It just works. Linux? Spend whole day to find same program, then eventually it doesn't work or its some terminal frickery with shitton of commands. When I use windoze I save my time. well I can use wine but what the point then using linux if I cant live without windows programs?

          Yes it's Bing, here's prompt:
          >Yui Hirasawa (K-ON) viewed through a photorealistic front porch camera, distorted fisheye view, photoreal background of rural grass field, midnight, porch light on, Yui Hirasawa has a serious expression and open mouth and wears a yellow hair clip and black loose unbuttoned trenchcoat and a black tshirt reading "NEVER GOON" and has short light brown hair and is holding a Soviet AKM upright in one hand

also you don't need to wipe or reinstall the os just to reinstall grub

Windows is so bad or malicious it nukes other operating systems. Not a Linux or GRUB issue.
The other day my UEFI updated and removed my boot entries, that's not a Linux issue.

        Anonymous

This. Always install windows first on dual boot, because then grub will see it and set everything up to play nicely. If you install Linux first, when windows sees the Linux partition, God knows what it will do.

Have you tried Affinity software under wine? Maybe it works better (and perform better, at least it does for me on windows)

        Anonymous

It doesn't. Affinity Publisher looks like shit in a VM and does not work with Wine. And Scribus is just outright junk so I need Windows for making books.

My excuse? The development environment and ecosystem are so primitive that nobody but angry eggheads are writing code for Linux, and their UI skills leave something to be desired even to this day.

Can you believe the Linux community still debates whether a debugger is a necessary thing? "At least we have GDB!" said no one ever.

On my desktop PC I might end up using it at some point.
On my laptop, it's sort of a work laptop. I do some work there, and it does require windows software, and it's a mess to do otherwise. And it's a laptop where things only look sort of right at 175% scaling and I heard linux is not great with that shit.

Mouse scrolling, sensitivity, and tracking. Cirrus Logic audio support. The solutions don't work for it. And something else. Windows 11 works great, even if it's full of Chinese malware.
