Rating success by rankings is moronic. What's so great about being #2 when you've never made a cent of profit?
Cable TV is a dying medium and all those other entertainment shows he's so proud of AEW beating are replays of shows made for streaming services. And those shows are designed to be watched on demand at anytime for years unlike pro wrestling. No one rewatches old episodes of pro wrestling.
Of course he has his ppv cope since he's the only one who "knows" his numbers and of course he has no verifiable sources for his claims that anyone can follow up to see if they're legit or not.

WWE is still the only company that makes any money in wrestling and before trannies cry about caring about profits you have to remember profits come from fans buying tickets and watching WWE shows

      Anonymous

lol right. Constantly strutting about MUH NON SPORTS #1 CABLE is like AM radio operators bragging about their antiquated radio dramas having the same ranking. AEW has absolutely zero competition and is still somehow losing demo share.

What's the point in making profits when your show is unwatchable slop that embarrasses anyone willing to sit through it

      Anonymous

Exactly. Being number 2 means jack shit when you're heavily in the red with absolutely no signs of turning it around. Everything Tony does to gain more viewers, attendance, what have you, blows up in his face. And he's spending more and more.

AEW probably isn't even number 2 in being profitable. They literally don't profit.

AEW is the #1 indy in the world

  9. 2 weeks ago

it's not hard to be number 2 if you have money. tna was number 2 by default for all of the 2000s purely because they had a little bit of a budget compared to indies. it's not like it's the 90s where there are 2 big companies and a less bigger one like ecw. being number 2 was the absolute minimum anyone expected from aew

  10. 2 weeks ago
    Anonymous

How is he wrong though? Like, yeah you're right that AEW isn't turning a profit but that literally doesn't matter to Tony because he has other sources of income (his daddy). So when you take out the "profit" aspect of it, AEW is indeed the 2nd ranked promotion of the world. What else can be number 2? New Japoo? Kek.

  11. 2 weeks ago

Because AEW sucks balls, that is why. Dave only loves them because they push his favorites like Will Assplay and Kenny Homomega.

While true, how big is the gap? If I raced Usain Bolt 1v1, I would come in second place in a race with an Olympian, but by what margin?

  13. 2 weeks ago

Declining in popularity assumes there is a high q rating for AEW in the first place. Were squabbling over the difference between 2.5-4% of the population having any idea it exists.

Nobody has explained to me how it’s remotely possible that aew somehow sells 100k+ ppv buys each show

      Anonymous

It doesn't. The numbers given by Dave and company are completely fabricated. DAZN ended their 3 year contract with AEW after 1 year. They cited minimal PPV demand as the reason for terminating the deal.

      Anonymous

who is feeding those numbers to the press however
is it a legit accounting or is someone just saying that's what the numbers are

        Anonymous

There has never been any kind of audit of those numbers. In fact, available evidence suggests that AEW's buyrates are next to nothing.

        https://www.ringsidenews.com/2024/04/29/dazn-cancels-aew-content-after-just-one-year-due-to-underperformance/

        >The reason DAZN dropped AEW was because except for All In, the PPV numbers were below expectations and not enough people were watching (except for select episodes and the first month of Collision) where AEW was available internationally so DAZN ended the deal early.

They ended a 3 year contract after 1. No one watches AEW.
