idk i've seen some of those jblog guys and they pretty much all say the culture is that your job basically expects you to make it your lifestyle. you're required to work long hours every day and even hang out with your boss after hours sometimes and if you don't drink like everybody else it's going to look bad on you. they control their employees by forcing to pretend they are a "family" much worse even than in america etc.

Most of Japanese work is busywork, but the ones that get singled out are deliberately bored into submission. Imagine being stuck in a place for 8-10 hours a day, not making much money, no social interactions, pointless unpaid overtime. Even if the work is boring, useless, and easy corporate hell is corporate hell the only thing that keeps people sane is interactions.

Americans are too self centered to have a real sense of shame. Trump is peak American. This is why they cannot envision how this shunning is a bad thing. They have no community to speak of once they leave high school. The companies they run will gladly fire all of them the second that is possible. Their streets are dirty and everything is “someone else’s problem”. They are untrustworthy in general and can rationalize turning on you in a heartbeat. Never loan them money or invite them to your inner or private groups.
