Lit goes a bit crazy when books get promoted here, people will be talking about a book such as Why Liberalism Failed and claim that Patrick Deneen himself is shilling it here on this board. It's like, no, a 55-year-old political science professor who has a job at Notre Dame is not shilling his book here, if he wanted to do that, he would go on Fox News or something and spin it there to sell to wealthy boomers who collect unread books. Same thing for a lot of authors. Dying Mike Davis is not here shilling Planet of the Slums or whatnot.
Self-published books by no-name authors are a different story, especially books that emerge out of the online meme sphere. It not only is possible that he is here shilling his own books, but it's also very likely. I read Harassment Architecture and Gothic Violence, yet I have no interest in making a meme out of them and attempting to probe into a deeper discussion on them. The main person with such motivation is the author himself.
I actually have an interest in some of these trashy online right books, but if I was to make a thread about them, I would make a thread about all of them. It is suspicious when an OP just highlights a specific book or books by a specific online author.
