I know a girl from work who said she loved those exact authors. For a few days I thought she was based and well-read. Turned out it was because of that shitty anime. She’s just a superficial moron who goes through these phases that depend on what’s trending on tiktok (in other words just your typical run of the mill roastie). Once she was done with that anime she never mentioned them again. I’m pretty sure she didn’t even bother to read them. God why can’t I find a genuinely autistic female
I became infatuated with a supercute girl who has autism, has read something like 1000 books, 2/3 of which are garbage, yes, but she had a buttload of good stuff on her goodreads too. she writes romance. such a sweet girl. we became friends but I couldn’t pull the trigger on asking her on a date or anything.

I felt / feel genuine compassion for her and my mind immediately goes to “what if she gets hurt?” … just can’t do it.

something similar happened to me also. i met a 7/10 qt that carried around and read dostoevsky and wore trenchcoats and i thought i had finally found the autistic lit girl ive spent my whole life longing and seeking for, but as soon as we went on one date i realized she only read because of that damn anime and possessed only a superficial knowledge of all her favorite authors. she also said she enjoyed quantum physics and my autism kicked in and i explained to her quantum physics in depth and its relation to string theory and so on, followed by a lecture on mishima, dazai and how they reveal the truths of contemporary society (she thought dazai was literally just "haha funny alienates man that's depressed because of his inherently flawed inner nature and society has nothing to do with it). after that i lost interest but decided i might bang her once or twice so i invited her to another date but she ghosted me. a few months later i saw her again and asked why she ghosted me and she said it was because my intelligence and knowledge intimidated her and made her feel insecure (i had actually suspected that to be the case, given how show-off-ish she was, so i wasnt surprised in the slightest).

Only good thing that came out of that was that she forced me to read dead souls which I ended up liking. It's not a COMPLETELY terrible show in that regard
