Am I retarded

So I took a commission to make a website. My client wanted mybb set up. I set up mybb, which took about a few minutes to do. But I ran into a lot of issues with centos and php. Had to configure php and nginx to allow upload limits to be larger. Which took about 10 hours to figure out. This was because I didn't know the issue was with both nginx and php-fpm.

I created the main website (along with an admin control panel) which took about 70 hours so far. And my client just keeps wanting more and more while paying me pretty much nothing.

I originally got paid $100 because I didn't think it'd take 10 fricking hours to set up mybb. And I thought what he wanted was simple. But he keeps adding more stuff.

And I really need to be working on other stuff.

I took the commission because I'm poor. I already spent the money. What do I do? I want to refund so I can just move on, but I have no money.

He keeps asking for new stuff while only paying me like $20 every 2 or 3 weeks.

I would have just ghosted but he's a friend of a friend. I explained to him that I really need to be working on other stuff right now, and he agreed. But he messages me every day asking me to get more stuff done.

If I knew this is how this would have gone, I would have never taken the opportunity. I can make the same amount of money I made working my job in a few hours.

What do I do?

Get fricked, either get paid by the hour or get a list of a requirements beforehand and tell them the price for the complete package.

    >I originally got paid $100 because I didn't think it'd take 10 fricking hours to set up mybb
that's literally how it always goes with Linux troony distros. Not even Debian is safe because you will always run into similar issues where setting up the exact same software, just a slightly newer version of it means they've changed literally every fundamental aspect you relied upon previously to get the job done. I used to be able to set up a Dnsmasq based router on Debian prior to systemd being the default everywhere. Now I have no idea how to disable systemd-resolvd without absolutely breaking literally everything having to do with accessing the internet system wide. What I could do before in an hour will take me 10 hours at the minimum.
