I spent the last decade saving up so I can buy a boat and spend my days reading and writing while getting blown about the world, should be happening soon.

I know you're joking but Australia has the second most sheep by total in the world and they outnumber people there 3 to 1

No, because like others have said, I need to pay rent. And buy food. And have health insurance. Etc. I write for fun when I can, usually on the weekends and evenings. Sometimes my desk job calms down enough for a week or two for me to sneak some in while in the office, but that's pretty rare, and the quality is usually pretty low since I'm multitasking responding to pings. Unless you're independently wealthy or can reasonably be a dependent on another person, don't quit. Especially don't quit if you have no timeline in mind and would be unlikely to finish your novel in after 3-4months. Anything beyond that is just dillydallying.

I'm unemployed and also happen to be writing a novel but I should hopefully be able to work and write soon.

Thinking about it. Don’t want to write a novel though.

Thinking about taking a vacation at the very least to focus on my writing. Getting sidelined by work happens to me too many motherfricking times and I lose my train of thought and how i'm going to progress in the story.

I just work part-time tbh. I don't even have grand plans for a novel, I just loathe working.

I did... long story short- if you're a midwit like myself- you CAN write a quality novel- but it's gonna take you twice as long as 120iq plus fellow. And if it is your first novel- it's gonna take longer.

So I saved 10k, took only odd jobs, and wrote full time. Well, I eventually realized I can only write 3 hours a day and I'm mentally toast ... so, I got a part time job.

Get a part time job, live with your parents, and put in 2 to 4 hours a day

And no, I'm still not done. Probably 1 to 2 years left. Sucks, but at the end of the day it just takes time.

I quit my novel to be a tradie. Now I spend my day slamming dews and burning heaters with the boys. It's a good life.

I've never been employed but is it that bad? Or do you guys need to write for 8+ hours daily? Either way I should get off my ass and write more.
