Anyone interested in forming a group to go through pic rel? Lisp based, comfy systematic program design.
How would the group meet? What would we talk about? I already read SICP and watched the Brian Harvey CS61A lectures but I'd be interested to read HTDP too
Probably an element server or discord server, whichever is easier and everyone prefers.
I'm thinking we'd talk about parts in each chapter each person finds particularly interesting, and about harder exercises / how to approach them, how to model them, thought processes on designing functions for them, etc.
Why not on this board that's full of opportunity for cohesive discussion.
Can't tell if joking or not but yeah if I saw a /htdp/ general here with a week-by-week study plan then I'd read along and participate.
How many chapters per week? There's the prologue where you set up dr racket, about 34 chapters including some short summary chapters, and intermezzos between sections, and an epilogue. Obviously some people have more time than others but at a quick glance I imagine 2-3 non-summary chapters per week would be a pretty good pace. If each intermezzo counts as a chapter and the summary chapters dont count, then at 3 chapters per week, we'd finish the book in about 12 weeks or 3 months. 2 chapters per week would be more like 18 weeks or 4.5 months.
What do you think OP?

I'd say one so everyone can participate and catch up properly, but I understand some anons thinking that would be too fricking slow. Count me in, though.
This just use trips. If someone you had a dialogue to is lost of the general thread just search his trip over the archive in case he wants to say more relevant stuff about it.
Remember to make a reentry or explain people in OP how to use secure trips and maybe how to install IQfyx so that they make use of all those features at hand.

The book assumes the reader is a beginner programmer, so that shouldn't be much of an issue.
It's not so much a book about learning lisp, rather its about learning how to design programs from scratch.

Look, I know the meta is to hate on discord, but I'd join one if it meant hanging out with some other noob IQfy programmers. Seems like a fun time, I might be inclined to get more shit done if it's part of a group effort.

A small Discord group could be enough, though. It's going to be really slow anyway, so comfy. I'm a bit of a boomer when it comes to Discord because I hate how fast paced is, but could work.
It'll instantly die like all IQfy discord groups. It'll be ridden with trannies in no time and talk about a lack of girlfriend and becoming one instead.
Just stay here and use trips. it'll attract way more people and especially normal people.
