No. That show was very funny, but it is not an accurate reflection of reality. That being said, it is probably the only genuinely decent tech-oriented comedy series ever created. IT Crowd doesn't count, because tech was just a shallow veneer for standard British gag comedy.
I can't imagine living life like a hermit monk voluntarily yet still having the gall to pass judgement on anyone else, you projecting no fun homosexuals

Imagine thinking abstaining from drugs and alcohol equates to living a life "like a hermit monk." I don't live in a monastery atop a mountain, with robes and a shaved head, but I know my physical and mental wellbeing is much better than whatever you're dealing with in your sad life.

>mental wellbeing is much better
and yet here you are shitting on someone else for no reason. You might not agree with their choices, but they aren't YOUR choices to make.

Cope. My choices are correct.
Being able to install Arch will make you able to install an OS on a server/VM, but it's mostly troubleshooting moronic shit. Not that it's all easy issues but that you'll spend 2 hours on something to come to the conclusion "if the logs were better and/or I knew this one fricking specific piece of information this would have taken me 5 minutes to fix"
No, I never went to college or have any certs. Though if you're completely disinterested you'll probably not do very well. Just do some homelabbing and what not and you'll qualify for a junior position. It's the same as any tech job, DBA, dev, device management. If you have nothing to offer you won't get any offers but if you have an interest in it no degree or cert will automatically get you employed.

Basically anyone who is in the field knows if you're just looking for a paycheck or if you actually enjoy that kind of work and will be a good asset.
no they're just buttholes soon to be replaced by bots
>sysadmins replaced by bots
are you actually moronic? i mean i wish too but they're not going away
the kind of employees getting replaced are the managers. algos calculate better whats profitable than humans
Kind of ironic since LLMs are notoriously bad at math
So are managers
>algos calculate better whats profitable than humans
Not after the ~~*alignment*~~ team is done with them
No, some of us just suffer clinical depression and we sink our sorrows in either tons of coffee and linux or alcohol
Its a miserable existence because all you do is fix dumb shit
no but I'm at least
weed does nothing anymore so i had to raise my alcohol intake
Get on my meth level.
It's a coping mechanism when working with morons

Sysadmin isn't a real job.
An over 30 sys admin who drinks beer and sits on his ass all day long and it's not fat as frick? Everyone on that show were so skinny, so unrealistic.
drinking alcohol is degenerate behavior.
this. always do drugs, because they are safe
doing drugs is equally degenerate.
go be a homosexual somewhere else
>struck a nerve

hedonistic hylic stay mad
are you implying that jesus was degenerate?
Yeah, most are high functioning alcoholics, either that or amphetamine addicts who spend all their money on prostitutes
I'm both a sysadmin and webshitter (two jobs) and my drug of choice is Lisdexamfetamine
is sysadmin an easy job for me if I was able to install arch? I'm thinking of switching my job. Where do I start?

Do I need to take this 'RHCSA' piece of shit to get a job? I'm broke af right now. Is there any free alternative?

sysadmin = tech janny
at least it's paid
No, but the media wants you to mimic the behavior of your "literally me" characters
Gilfoyle wasn't a sysadmin, but yes, most are.
I'm a sysadmin and an alcoholic
I'm an alcoholic only
not initially
How much work do sysadmins actually do? Asking for a friend.
very little then suddenly an extreme amount
pretty much
Depends on how bad everyone else is fricking up and how many new features need to be turned on that week
For all x in sysadmins
lim_{{t to infty}} is_an_alcoholic(x,t) = true
