Are old computer parts worth anything?

I got a bunch of old computers from the 90s with molex and IDE ports with stuff like PS2 and serial ports maybe USB 1.1. What are they good for if anything at all? I thought the power supplies and heatsinks might be useful but does anyone want these computers at all? The lower efficiency of the PSUs might also make them not worth it too. I don't think they're worth using already, any ideas?

People who recycle old computers/parts think of themselves as altruist volunteers who might only dream of breaking even if they obtain a massive patreon following. That's how worth these things are. I'll find the yt video for you if I'm not lazy.

Also, if you go to your local convenience recycling station / wherever people go to recycle e-waste for free/cheap, you'll see a constant stream of people literally THROWING this shit into big piles because it is genuinely nothing more than heavy waste to them; you'll see so many electronics you could feed an indian village.

How do people find these veritable treasure troves? I'd never HEARD of an e-waste recycling station til some aussie said it in a youtube video, and because of his accent I thought it was a joke...

town dump here in bongland has a shipping container full of e waste. you're not meant to take stuff from it but the minimum wage staff dgaf. however only interesting thing i ever saw in there was a cp/m micro

It's just the local dump where I live, but a small section cordoned off from the rest where people just drive up and toss shit in organized piles. It's the only legal place besides certain electronic stores (for a hefty fee) to dispose of such matter. And as the other anon said, you're not supposed to take anything away from it but the only people who would stop you would be karens, depending on how black/intimidating you look.

Check on Ebay because some PCs and parts are collectible. Not hard and you might have some machines or parts retro collectors want.

If not, then scrap after finding out what used CPU and circuit board prices are on Ebay. You may be surprised.

you can make a fortune with old PC parts

      specs:
CPU: Intel Pentium M 1,86 GHz (32-bit CPU, single core, no multithreading, but such aint a problem for WinXP)

HDD: 40 GB, IDE HDD (2.5" parallel ATA, the last model to use those, 40GB is quite small, it was possible to buy 160GB PATA for laptops at the time of laptops release)

RAM: 2 GB (max. 2 GB, it wont recognize more if you try)
      CD/DVD: yes
Display: 15" (14" moel was also available)

that's a collectors item as crazy as it sounds.
the money in old pc stuff is if you have the time to part it all out, and even more if you have the time to identify proprietary parts or parts with low supply and sell them for high $. For example, shitty old hard drives commonly go for good money because either people want the same model for their system (even though they don't need it) or they are doing data recovery and need donor parts. Another example would be proprietary cables where someone doing a repair either has to build their own or pay your price. Just don't expect to sell that stuff quickly.

None of it is about how "good" the parts are. Most of the parts are going to be for scrap or to sell for a few bucks to a hobbyist, but likely scrap. For me, when it comes to stuff like IDE cables and old usb ports, it's not worth the time to sell it even though they sound expensive for what they are now.

Just don't pay to recycle that stuff. That is such a scam. If someone wants me to pay them for them to take my old parts i'll go around their building and throw it in their dumpster as a frick you

Im not a fan of broccoli aside from the heads after they soaked in whatever sauce the chinaman puts on them

Broccoli is actually incredibly based, you just can't cook it like a moron. Never ever fricking steam broccoli. Either sautée it, pan sear it, or bake it. You get a pleasant crunch and excellent leafy texture without drying it out or turning it into broccoli jello. Then toss it in literally anything - yes the chinaman sauce is great, I like garlic pepper and shallots. The best dish of all time is risotto with cheese, topped with baked broccoli with just pepper and shallots. Then topped with scallops and crisped prosciutto torn into strips. The scallops, risotto and broccoli pair well together, and then the prosciutto keeps the risotto interesting after you've finished that.

      Don't overlook the scallops.

        > Never ever fricking steam broccoli
Can I ask why the frick this ever became the primary method of cooking broccoli?

No, seriously. Whenever I cook this shit I will literally season it with half a dozen different spices, throw it in an oven or air fryer with some sort of oil, and it tastes fricking DELICIOUS even if I overcook or undercook it.

And yet, whenever someone over the age of 30 says "I'm going to cook some broccoli teehee :)" they either fricking blanch it, steam it, or boil it until it's complete mush and at best they'll add a tiny pinch of salt and then say "WOWEE THIS IS THE BEST FRICKING BROCCOLI I'VE EVER TASTED".

What in the actual frick? And yea, this should probably be in >>>>>IQfy or whatever, but seriously.

For desktop use even shit from 15 years ago is already barely usable since it misses instructions for encryption and hardware codec support. And dealing with the autists who want to buy them is more pain in the ass than it is worth.
