Are the discworld books worth reading? I don't mean are they good or not but does the story have a satisfying conclusion where it ended? I know their very loosely connected but how connected are they?

It doesn’t conclude well, but the ride is well worth it. I’d say skip the first two and then read them in order as they were released. If you don’t enjoy Guards, Guards or Mort than you more thank likely won’t enjoy the rest. But as for me it was the best summer ever going through them one by one.
Alright I'll try mort and Guards guards then.
First two are the only good ones.
First couple are proper parodies of contemporary fantasy cliches, it turns into something very different after he extends into a complete world.
think of it more like "slice of life". there's no single over-arching story
They're great dude. There's like four or five main characters that the stories are based around. Rincewind, Death, the witches, the wizards at the university, and sam vimes with the city watch. There's almost like series inside of the series. Sometimes main characters are just side characters or cameos in other books.
The Sam vimes stories almost read like detective novels. And are in some cases. They're all great adventures in themselves. The Death books are just good reads. The Hogfather was great and probably one of my favorites. Or the one where Vimes goes back in time. Is that guards guards?
I've long since fallen out of love with Pratchett, but I still listen to a Discworld audiobook before sleep. It's a sickness, but they are (mostly) good.
>Vimes goes back in time
That's Nights Watch.
Do you like reddit humor?
What does reddit humour even mean nowadays?

I liked Going Postal a lot, reminded me of Better Call Saul.
did they make a film version of that?
*didn't they
yes. it was OK. there hasn't bee a good discworld movie or tv show that I know of.
of the movies Hogfather was probably best.
The Wyrd sister I remember being ok.
There is a general problem in Discworld adaptions that much of the humour happens in narration, and non of the shows have been able to translate that to the screen.
I remember there being a few cartoon versions in the 90s and a game.
I've still got some of the teeth from the hogfather teeth mound somewhere a friend on an old fan forum sent me in the mid 00s
>and a game
>"that doesn't work"
I think there were at least two games.
3
Discworld
Discworld 2
Discworld noir
the first one was annoyingly hard, full of moon logic. the last one was a early 3d game that is unplayable on modern tech
Why is it unplayable? acceleration?
No they are not. There is literally NO scientific accuracy in it...
This Prachett guy made up this whole story just for fun. The sheer nerve of this guy
my mum likes it tho
>does the story have a satisfying conclusion where it ended?
Each book is very much self contained. There are sub-series, but each subsequent book loosely follows on from the previous one, without the previous one having led into it, if that makes sense.
The tiffany aching/witches saga has a sort of finale
