They are okay. I liked the first two books most, it gets weaker in some way and stronger in others once it turns into a single continuous story instead of connected short stories. The games unironically tell a better story overall

No. The short stories off unique twists on Grimm Fairly tales and such which further demonstrate the lack of originality Andrzej Sapkowski has. Just read Elric of Melnibone, they are more enjoyable and are a speedier read.

No it's not of literary merit and is not worth reading. If you want to read fantasy-like lit of actual literary merit then read Salammbo by Flaubert, you'll get far more out of it.
Yes very much. The first book is more of a collection of short stories and they start to follow the story after that.
I've heard the English translation isn't the best one and I can't verify it since I've read them in Finnish, which was a very good translation imo.
