Are us non Apple users just idiots? This thing runs circles around a Thinkpad within a couple years of when this was released.
I still can't stand the Apple ecosystem but thats another issue ig

The form and hardware are what make it the only usable laptop in history. The trackpad and gestures make life easy, swiping so quick across several virtual desktops. I even have a windows VM full screen and I just swipe over to it. And three different browsers full screen and two desktops. And gestures to expose desktop, or show all windows, all the easy keys shortcuts with the CMD being in the perfect spot. On windows keyboard you have to reach further to do shortcuts.
>gestures
homie you doin sign language to your laptop?
The trackpad is insane man. If you want to move a folder or a file, you don’t have to select it with a click, you just grab it with one finger and press down a little harder and move it and drop it. A Pc trackpad is ancient tech feeling, the Apple trackpad is more like a tablet. Take three fingers fingers and expand like your zooming out of an image on your phone, and the Mac will slide all your windows open to the side to reveal your desktop. Swipe left or right with 3 fingers and you can slide between desktops. It’s so fast for productivity. I hate Apple but I’m not brand loyal and will use whatever laptop is best and so far only Apple makes them.
Til Apple takes away your file system for something more iOS like
My personal Mac is just for browsing the web and paying bills and running Adobe Lightroom and Final Cut Pro for video. It’s pretty much the same as my PC, just easier to do that stuff from bed. But at my desk Lightroom runs the same on PC and Chrome is Chrome. And for gaming the MacBook even runs Disco Elysium just fine in bed, and a few other Steam games. I want to get a NAS going and have a desktop ready to go but can’t figure out how to do it, then I can edit files from other PC or Mac from a shared drive.
>My personal Mac is just for browsing the web and paying bills and running Adobe Lightroom and Final Cut Pro for video.
You can do that on any $300 laptop, why bother buying a MacBook?
I have medium format cameras and the 200 or so 80mb batches of DNG files bog down Lightroom on any machine. But if I didn’t need to do that I’d still get a MacBook Air just for the trackpad and battery life. Even the MacBook Pro I’ve never heard the fan come on or feel heat while it’s on my lap, the M processors are magic. I’d take a windows laptop if they were in a package like MacBooks, I can work on either OS, I have a Lenovo at my mom’s and hate having to use it due to the tiny trackpad and heat and battery life. I don’t like traveling with a heavy laptop so so I leave the Mac behind.
they've more or less abandoned the IOS sandboxing filesystem for documents because it sucked
The only thing that's actually useful on that list is clicking and dragging, but that's not insane, PC trackpads do that too.
>Take three fingers fingers and expand like your zooming out of an image on your phone, and the Mac will slide all your windows open to the side to reveal your desktop. Swipe left or right with 3 fingers and you can slide between desktops.
guhnome does that beautifully
windows does toob ut like total shit
>It’s so fast for productivity.
it's shit in fact I have heard it is only good if you use everything slowly... it's a normalgay-first platform and therefore it sucks
lol
If you pinch your fingers together you zoom out of the thing to pick other windows
Also you can navigate with certain gestures and its very natural
It's just contrarian midwits who think it's still 2004. There's a ton to hate about Apple but you won't read any of it on IQfy.
I don't even call them trackpads on other devices, it's hilarious how bad they are. Like they were designed for shrek hands or something.
>friend fell for the M1 MacBook Air meme
>has only 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD, no ports and can't output more than one external display
>I bought a based Thinkpad (new, not used shit)
>have 16GB RAM (upgradeable), 1TB SSD (also upgradeable), a shitload of ports and can comfortably drive two 4K@60Hz monitors
But hey at least his laptop's battery lasts a bit longer.
>The trackpad and gestures make life easy, swiping so quick across several virtual desktops
Works fine on my modern ThinkPad running Arch Linux with KDE Plasma 6 on Wayland.
This post would've made sense if it was still 2017.
>Works fine on my modern ThinkPad running Arch Linux with KDE Plasma 6 on Wayland.
It works on Windows 11 too.
Ironically you're the one stuck in the past.
It's 2024. Apple's rivals have trackpads that are just as good and sometimes better now, with all the gestures working on both Windows and Linux (KDE/GNOME).
>Apple's rivals have trackpads that are just as good and sometimes better now, with all the gestures working on both Windows and Linux (KDE/GNOME).
HA^312
You're stuck in 2017.
Cool now install a game or literally any peice of software used to do work. Oh wait, you can't and it's a laptop shaped web browser.
I can install software to do work through homebrew
Since it's Unix based it can actually run useful software natively unlike windows with the wsl
I'm a long time linux user and I hate apple as a company but I have to admit this is completely wrong, a large number of audio professionals all use macs and its not a coincidence, do you really want me to list all the industry standard software that professionals are using on macs every day?
>do you really want me to list all the industry standard software that professionals are using on macs every day?
Yes.
kind of.
I literally have less usable applications on my Linux Mint laptop than I do on my MacBook Pro.
-Sent from my 14900k Intel system (first CPU exploded) running Windows 10.
I'd hope it runs better, Apple controls literally every single piece of hardware and software involved.
Windows on ARM will still be horrendous in a decade's time.
Thank you for your service. A freshly collected cow dung will be waiting for you after your shift. Feel free to roll around in it as much as you desire. It's our way of saying thank you for all this tireless shilling.
>Windows
Muh pajeet
>Apple Inc products
Muh pajeet
>Linux userbase in India at 15%
Muh pajeet
Obsessed and mind broken. Get a grip, ffs.
>SAR value
>no numpad
disgusting garbage
Now add more RAM and install a new OS.
My job gives me a new Mac every two years with 32GB ram and 2TB HD and a windows VM on it. I can work a whole day from bed on a single charge, no cables just doing my gay sysadmin tasks.
How do you run windows on Mac?
emulator
How do you do that?
Also I have a gaming PC that I can upgrade all I want. Just threw in a 4080 super and might go AM5 soon, not sure it’s worth the price. 7900x3d?
Black person?
>users
It's the companies who are idiots. Literally any one of them can topple Apple if they were just competent enough. Microshit had their chance with the Surface a decade ago but they bundled it with Windows 8.
>sends 12v to your nand for no reason
>that will be $899+tax+tip
mhm
>This thing runs circles around a Thinkpad within a couple years of when this was released.
The frick does that mean?
Wow, that's awesome. I can't tell you how many times I threw my laptop or got it wet while doing gardening or let my violent primal Black person instincts take over. This is the laptop for me!
More practical question is getting damaged while traveling. You keep your laptop in a bag. You trip, and the backpack falls into a puddle. Does your laptop survive this encounter?
Alright then go on, buy the laptop that has critical motherboard design flaws each generation, displays that crack from ambient temperature changes or being closed on the smallest food crumb, plastics that break from being wiped clean, tin can chassis that bends permanently if it is dropped once, I could go on.
If my laptop breaks I can just get a cheap Chromebook for like 40 or less bucks and put linux on it and it would probably perform better than a 15 year old Thinkpad too.
>If my laptop breaks I can just get a cheap Chromebook for like 40 or less bucks and put linux on it
and have a piece of shit
>and it would probably perform better than a 15 year old Thinkpad too.
that's 2009
late C2D early core i, a used chrometurd is gonna be close
and have 4GB RAM and Celeron N, good luck. slower than a core2duo
only gaywads use apple products
If you're not working on porting Linux to locked down, poorly-documented hardware like this your are not a real programmer
sadly the only people doing that are a Hispanic homosexual pedo troonyfricker and a israeli troony
>Are us non Apple users just idiots?
only if you want one but refuse only due to brand loyalty
if your experience is mostly desktop, linux or windows is fine imo. apple is king on portability tho
>Apple ecosystem
Enough reason to hate it. This shit could be an quantum computer but I have to deal with dumb Apple limitations, then it is just trash
>Are us non Apple users just idiots?
I don't want to use Mac OS, and I don't want to fuddle around with Asahi. I have a Dell XPS Developer Edition laptop running Ubuntu, and it does everything I need it to do. I also have a desktop running Windows 11 for gaming purposes and *some* productivity applications that don't run on Linux.
My Winhoes 7 laptop runs circles around you and your machine, techlet.
>I still can't stand the Apple ecosystem but thats another issue ig
just install Linux
I don't care if it runs circles. I feel more comfy using a Thinkpad, it has more ports and it doesn't look like something designed for a woman
I think just not buying those overpriced pieces of garbage is already a more intelligent move than yours.
>This thing runs circles around a Thinkpad
and steals your data while shortly breaking down into its original composition (cow dung and sillicon) in less than 3 years.
I/O: 1 single usb c port
