Armenian here

How Indo-European is and was Armenia???
especially in the pre-Christian past? I have some sources where the Greeks and others treat the ancient Armenians as strange, outsider people.
especially considering its appearance....

my family in general looks European/Mediterranean, with some people looking Northern/Northwestern European. what can cause this?

Just yesterday, I went to the market and saw a very red-haired family.
I'm not saying that they represent half the population, but I've seen a some of blonde people here. maybe they are Russians?

and we don't see going into the linguistic issue, ok? it's useless.... the Greeks have almost 1000 non-IE words and some substrate theories, so it's kind of useless

They have almost no Indo-European ancestry beyond R1b-Z2103
They are actually Urartians who picked up Armenian.

      OK
and the Greeks? Sicilians and other Europeans?
Thry also has almost no Indo-European ancestry.
the main Greek haplogroup is neither r1b or r1a.
But don't get me wrong, I don't want to "belong" to anything, I just think that this argument could perhaps be a double-edged sword.
      can apply to Greeks too

This . R1b-Z2103 might as well not be Indo European, it's only exhibited amongst Armenians and Assyrians.
Armenians are unmixed Urartians and thus Mesopotamian, but they mingled way too much with st*ppe and churkas.
Their pre Christian culture is typical IE with a heliocentric pantheon and a creation myth where the progenitor rebels against a tyrant, which is tragic because it replaced their former identity.
The light featured people among you are alien steppemutts. The northern euro looking types probably had a slav grandparent. Same story with every other churka with pinkie features, they always have a slav grandparent.

I didn't talk about haploshits. It was the guy above.
haploshits are good for determining migrations, basically that.
It was you who started talking about Armenia sucking Europe or whatever.
          this is not relevant

    >Our time transect of Armenia is concluded by post-Urartian samples from the 2nd half of the 1st millennium BCE and up to the high medieval period at Agarak about 1,000 years ago.
    >Remarkably, the EHG ancestry that has persisted from its ~14% (MBA), ~10 (LBA), ~8% (EIA), and ~7% (Urartian period) is drastically diminished in the post-Urartian period down to ~2-3% (Fig. S 66).
    >We were concerned that the individuals sampled from the post-Urartian period may have been atypical, so we confirmed the reduction of EHG ancestry in the post-Urartian period also using two present-day Armenians sequenced as part of the Simons Genome Diversity Panel(407) as well as ten present-day Armenians genotyped on the Human Origins array(25). These have reduced EHG ancestry too, with an estimated 3±1% for the larger Human Origins set of present-day individuals (Fig. S 66). When we compare the present-day Armenians to either the Medieval ones from Agarak (~1,000 years ago), or to the ancient ones from several sites (~2,000 years ago), there are no significant differences in ancestry.

They Anatolian farmers. Maybe the most Anatolian farmer looking people around aside from Sardinians.
They do have Indo European Y DNA.
Their culture is like many in Southern Europe a combination of IE and EEF.
However the EEF elements are stronger in places like Spain and IE elements are stronger in places like Italy.
I dont know enough to place Armenian anywhere on that cline culturally.

Armenia is not Indo-European, it's a Turko-Iranian shithole after centuries of miscegination and inbreeding and goat rape

    >Armenian here
Damn bro, you have my sympathize, your homeland is fricked. If you haven't already, migrate to the States or Europe. Take a page out of the israelites book, develop a culture that prioritizes education and wealth making and spend the next 5-6 generations building absurd amounts of wealth and influence your countries of residence. Also play up the genocide. Then you can start sending back armed insurrectionists and settlers back to the Armenia and brute force you into reforming Greater Armenia with all that money. Can use the political influence to get the big boy nations to proper up your military and economy. Probably your best play assuming good ol' climate change doesn't make the entire area uninhabitable by the time plan is ready for fruition. Kardashians are off to a good start.
