Installed Artix Linux (w/ runit and XFCE) last night, was a horrible experience. Going back to Debain. I spend like 15mins troubleshooting trying to get my system to connect to the wifi then pacman decided not to work...
Absolute shit. This kinda shit is why "the year of a the Linux desktop" is a meme at this point. Basic shit (like connecting to wifi) is a hassle on some distros.

the year of the linux desktop does not include distros intended for more advanced users
>more advanced users
aka people that use their computer for more than browsing the internet
I feel the opposite. Browsing and ricing are all you can easily do on niche distros. You have way more power on a common, well-supported distro that publishes a wide variety of vetted and tested packages.
You can get the same software on either distro you ignorant homosexual.
Apple seems to have a good market share making their machines only useful for browsing the internet.
Is this some kind of pro-systemd psyop?
yes
>iwctl station wlan0 connect wifi_name
Easier than how I did it:
sudo rfkill unblock wifi
connmanctl enable wifi
connmanctl scan wifi
connmanctl connect [enter the code starting in "wifi_" that is assigned to the desired ssid here]
Just use nmtui.
I love TUIs so much
It's the troll that never used Linux, posting bullshit again.
Proof?
>Going back to Debian
Wise choice. Use Devuan if you don't want systemD. Use MXLInux if you're a brainlet and need a GUI tool for everything.

kek
I remember trying a bunch of meme distros when I was young too
most people having "wifi problems" after a manual install forgot to install a network tool before booting into the OS. It's happened to me before as well.
>B-BUT THE INTERNET WORKED FINE DURING THE INSTALL IDGI
that's because installation image/ISO has it's own network tools, but the OS you just installed and booted into doesn't.
That's simply them being unable to read simple instructions. I've literally never seen an linarx installation guide *not* explicitly telling you to setup networking while still on the livedisk.
which init system should i use on artix?
Runit
OpenRC or Runit
I installed it on a laptop from scratch with disk encryption and i had literally 0 issues maybe except having to edit /etc/bluetoothd/input.conf to make bluetooth work without pin so I can use my PS3 controller to play games on RetroArch. As for WiFi it was piss easy just installed connman with connman-gtk and it just worked right away. Most issues with diy distros is on users side

Lol, lmao even. This post brought to you by the Gentoo gang.
I run a custom built yocto system where I hand curated every package, feature, and kernel config.
I had problems with the graphical install just updating the system so I haven't bothered with the base install. Probably should try though.
