As I'm getting older I'm starting to see the value of silence to the point where expressing myself or reading people "trying to communicate something important" feels extremely gay and tryhard. Even typing this feel grating to my soul.
The idea of a new novelist trying to write a story with anything but the fun and enjoyment of the reader in mind is extremely fricking cringe. The idea that "truth must be sought, debated and analyzed" feels like a huge virtue signal in a world of dizzying fractal complexity.
This is killing all creative thought I once had.

So anything that is not a product catered for consumers is cringe?
In my opinion the novelist himself should have fun writing the book and release it "just do maybe others could have fun with it too". And not specifically catered as a fun product

The problem is that the vast majority of aspiring writers, despite being readers themselves, have little to no conscious understanding reader expectations. And even if you're just writing "for yourself" it's infinitely more fun if other people actually want to read the stuff you write. Good fiction ultimately is a form of mind control, and good fiction writers are always conscious of the fact that there's another person on the other side of the page. It's less about catering than controlling and directing the readers thoughts and emotions.

This is a perspective of the Actaeon myth I had never thought about before. But the fact that he is eaten alive does not make him an enjoyer though, he paid too much for what he received perhaps?

      >Actaeon myth I had never thought about before. But the fact that he is eaten alive

He's eaten alive because if you don't speak you lend yourself to others who do, even if you don't realize it: as silence is consent. Moreover if you don't say anything at all then you can be picked up long after you're dead and made to say anything.

It's a lesson about rhetoric, I suppose, the muted audience is disempowered and can be said to think or believe anything by a speaker.

Then again, if you're a fricking idiot you should probably not speak. Then again, trust yourself.

What do??????? Bro, nothing, you've almost reached wisdom. Hold on, face the world the way you can, cultivate silence. All the greatest minds and especially the greatest poets came to the same conclusion at some point. Flaubert wanted to write a book about nothing, but he didn't succeed. However, the intention was already a proof of greatness. Be stoic, find other ways, but don't do anything.

All you told us is that you don’t want to be perceived as cringe, try-hard, or gay. Why not just write what you want and not care what others think?

When you're older you'll realize that being cringe is actually kino as frick, and all your best memories are when you and your friends or girlfriends were just fricking around and being cringe together.
For now, enjoy the silence I guess? Why does it sound like you're complaining about enjoying something? Just be quiet and enjoy...

I think when people get older, they are more certain about who they are, and what they like, and what they don't like. People can become more like "if you don't like it, leave it" or "don't waste my time here." Younger people are still trying to figure out who they are, how to develop an opinion, how to relate to society, stuff like that.

Adult education is also different. The teacher is no longer an authority figure. You have to kinda sync or relate what you're saying to adults such that you don't actually tell them what the answer is (because adults already know the answer, or so they think), so when they learn the answer, they think they came up with it.

        >Adult education is also different.
Adults are willing to learn because they see the value in real education. A teenager or young adults brain hasn't even formed.

big flaw in education systems altogether really, massive waste of the population.

you see pal, you've got it all wrong. You should laugh like a lunatic when you're writing stuff, like so, and it should be easy and no more than 15 minutes work, observe:

I don't even know what to say. Sounds like a learned helplessness. Many people nowadays talk, endlessly, without saying anything of meaning. Why demonize those who try to?

Write this. But aim it at a reader with similar values and self-awareness as you. I prefer silence also. Can you entertain me?
