There's a balance between autism and functionalism with this type of software. If your moronicly ricing it for the hacker cyberpunk look your a homosexual.

That being said dwm is a good tiling wm. Never had any issues and configuring is easy, runs pretty lightweight as well. Dmenu is also pretty good for a simple launcher. ST borders on autistic with the amount of patches needed to cover basic shit so I don't really bother with it.

On a side note is anybody has any recommendations for good desktop environments/wm built primarily for tiling which don't have a bunch of useless software installed as defaults ill try it out, there's still a few things about dwm that I don't like and am ready to jump ship if something better comes along

That's what installing your own system from scratch is about. Try installing arch/artix or debian server, then install only the packages you need. For the WM you can use anything you want, or install any DE you want. If you don't want to install from scratch, install any artix DE iso.

Outside of maybe using it to learn basic git workflow or vi keybinds or something, their software is SPECIFICALLY for people who manually hack features themselves, because the code is deliberately small enough for quick combing. i.e., it is toy software for tinkering. This is niche to say the least, so if you are not in this group and you still use this shit, you are most definitely a pseud

It's great. The problem is that losers keep playing with it. Think about what you want, build it, and never worry about it again. The only time you might have to mess with it, is if you're an updooter and even then there's probably nothing that needs to be done.

Dwm/dwl still has the best implementation for multiple workspaces between multiple monitors
It's kinda scary how much i3/sway/hyprland suck for multi-monitors

      This.

I'm in my 40s and I tried to go to suckless route because I was intrigued their general philosophy. When I actually started tinkering and using it, I realized just how much time I was wasting.

I used dwm, st and surf for about 3 years. This shit is for unemployed manchildren with no kids.

surf - it's not like you need a well supported browser engine or ubo
st - it's not like you need a reliable unicode support and escape sequences that don't crash the terminal, also deeply tied to x11
dwm - i dunno probably deeply tied to x11 which is being slowly phased out, also something about full screen stuff not working in some cases

(n)sxiv and dmenu are probably acceptable

          Indeed, slowly... for 16 years.
And It'll only take another 30 years before it will be replaced by something (which certainly won't be Wayland).

You're only correct on surf (but to be honest most altbrowsers are shit unless if you only browse old websites)
          >Reliable unicode support
Bloat, st just does what a terminal needs to do.
          >Deeply tied to X11
That should be a good thing as

          > x11 which is being slowly phased out
