I can recite the entire thing from memory. I’m known for this. When I walk across my college campus passerby’s will sometimes call out a quote from a random spot in the book and I will pick it up from there and chant the rest of the scene as I continue walking. I’ve only read it once, it was awful.

300 and something. Boring. Next Pynchon my ass.

Three times I've given up around the 200-300 page mark. Honestly the anon above me is right, my mistake was reading Pynchon first. DFW comes off as a pale, gen X imitation.

It's funny how him and Franzen were friends and Franzen adores infinite Jest but anything Franzen writes is infinitely more readable and entertaining.

But yeah, infinite Jest probably has the most misleading first chapter of any book I've ever read. Then second chapter is literally boring crap.

I read the book once. Some parts fun, some horrific, some boring. All in all an okay read, but won't read it again

The only time I opened it was during a heavy mushroom trip where I read single pages at random and felt like each page was exactly what I needed at that moment.

around 114 , it just wasnt the right time for me. I'll certainly pick it up in the future but what i overall felt is that i put too much effort for only a few moments of brilliance. Though i've heard that the book picks up after page 200 so there's that... Also 6 letter Captcha ?

I didn't. I recommended it to someone else and it sounded like they read it all the way through themselves as well. Stay mad.
