I don't know what you're reading for, for pleasure or for education, but most of the ones you listed were just not worth the time to read them.
I read because I’m pretty lonely and I find it entertaining. I’m also in college so I want to be well enough read to coast through conversations with my peers if I have to. Your critique of those books is absolutely moronic however, so I can’t trust your opinion. Blood Meridian isn’t fun. It’s pretty garbage tbh. IJ and American Psycho are the most fun from the list
I'm probably the most well read and most experienced person here. I don't need to waste time debating the worth of those books.
If you're here to read for entertainment I'd recommend Voltaire and Francois de la Rochefoucald as authors to pick from, as well as any epic poems found in the western tradition such as Beowulf or Paradise Lost.
yeah probably, or the sound and the fury. i don't personally approve of the idea of easing yourself into a writer through guides and stuff though, i say just read whichever seems most interesting to you
Besides the trial all of these are garbage. Dude start with the russians. Or Sherwood Anderson’s stories. Or read Stoner if you want a true IQfy staple.
What about meditations?
Start with the Greeks
Game of Thrones
The History of the Runestaff, Moorwiener
Jurgen, Cabell
The Crock of Gold, Stephens
Kalevala, Lonnrot
Start with the Greeks
Iliad -> Odyssey -> Oresteia -> Herodotus
The Idiot, Anna Karenina, Moby-Dick, Don Quixote, Shakespeare (Macbeth, King Lear, Caesar), Dante's Comedy, and then don't forget Against Nature by Hyusmans.
I'll tell you about these.

Alright, I’ll look into Faulkner. I’m a southerner myself so maybe I’d be able to relate to it. Should I start with as I lay dying?
