are you moronic? from that page:
        >Local news in NZ quotes the pilot as telling passengers: ‘I lost my instrumentation briefly and then it just came back all of a sudden’.
do you know what that means? it probably is a literal fricking reboot, moron

why there are pilots if they don't know how to fly that fricker?

      Anonymous

Because third world browns have much lower requirements to become a commercial pilot and get skill checked by anything more complicated than auto pilot

      Anonymous

Airplanes have a lot of controls and information given and enhanced by onboard computers. Also, diagnosing issues can take more time than the emergency's duration to fix, especially if it's sudden and unexpected.

Because third world browns have much lower requirements to become a commercial pilot and get skill checked by anything more complicated than auto pilot

The FAA's requirements to become a pilot are actually too strict overall. Especially in regards to the minimum amount of flight hours to go commercial.

Software failing shouldn't stop manual hydraulics. That would be like your car breaks failing because your radio bsod your control panel.

we will do that in the next sprint, we are busy now designing towel dispensers in the restrooms. let's talk about it during tomorrow stand up

      >manual hydraulics

Imagine not knowing 787 is fly by wire. If you do not personally have extended flight or aircraft maintenance, manufacturing etc why would you even post?

        Anonymous

Not sure about 787 but surely it has hydraulics as a back up?

          Anonymous

The 787 has three hydraulic systems, each control surface is covered by at least two
There is no way to control it manually, that's what fly by wire means
There are also redundant computers constantly checking each other for errors, I don't know the exact configuration but it would require the failure of at least 3 separate computers to lose control
