Rare Hokuto No ken fan. I'm not even a weeb or otaku in the slightest but I recognize a great story when I see it. Ive never seen a series explore themes of fate and love as epicly as this one. Manga or anime? (Manga is leagues better imo.) Have you played the Ken's rage games?
I've read the manga anon, and have watched few bits and pieces of the anime. And yes, though i'd admit to being a weeb but my reading of manga just comprises with these 80s series or delinquent manga. But fist of the north star is one my all time favorites. I'd recommend you to give Rokudenashi Blues a try, it's by the assistant of the artist of Fist Of The North Star. It deals with much of the same themes as Fist, though in a highschool setting, and hokuto shinken is replaced by boxing.
I haven't played a game in years tbh, though this one looks cool. Might try it. Thanks anon
Boys need to have a strong male role model for it to happen. Given as that's lacking today, books are a good way to start your journey. Trial and error is the best teacher though but it's a hard life.
The really stupid thing about this image is that it raises physical exercise to a metaphysical virtue which is supposed to combat the various evils (and it can, to a point), but the act of exercise/"lifting" itself is ultimately done at the service of most of the ills, whether to escape them, or to try to embrace them. It's a kind of confused dupe slave morality which doesn't even have a god as final backing. Of course most men who lift/work out are really doing it for women/gym thots/to cope with the other things, and not for any higher purpose. Yes, it can be meditative for some, but not most.
"Just lift bro" is a popular remedy online in the young troubled men's community, as a solution to ennui and general life troubles (addiction/despair/loneliness). But if you look closer it seems to me like a crude approximation of religious or philosophical ideals, like abstinence and virtue in struggle. The young troubled men are experiencing the same things which birthed the solutions present in religion, only they are uneducated, so they make their attempt with crude imitations of their "feeling" of virtue, which may have been gleamed from going to church as a child, ideas here and there in their history classes and tv show characters. Personally I don't have much of a better solution at all since I'm hardly less miserable myself, and saying "just lift bro" is much easier to understand and communicate than "just read philosophy, theological and humanist novels bro" or something.
Maybe it should be "just read and lift bro"? But how do you then explain that WHAT you read is so important, because reading a bunch of YA novels is practically worse than doing nothing.
I agree completely. Lifting is half-formed religion. It tries to take on a religious capacity, but it fails because, as you say, fitness culture is uneducated. The solution is to make lifting religion proper. Through imitation of the original physical culture, namely of the Hellenes, through emulation of their moral vigour, their beauty and joy, we may heighten athletics to that divine and noble recreation the Greeks persued with religious devotion. Once that has been achieved athleticism should be synthentesized with religion completely, becoming ritual, combined with prayer, and the religion should become athletic, such as was implimented with the Victorian 'Muscular Christianity'.
That would be a dream come true. Though I would inject a little bit of Roman virtues and culture. Lifting and exercising under the sun and the gaze of the statues of the ancient heroes, afterwards enjoying a bath in the thermae and sacrificing to the Dioscuri, that would be peak kino.
In my experience it starts that way (I want to be hot etc.) but it quickly turns into a self-rewarding practice, you get hooked on the feeling, the progress, and the look of your own body.
Action without vision is only passing time, vision without action is merely daydreaming. Trying to fit a vague ideal by exercising is therefore far from ideal and a bit of a waste of time, but it is miles better for your body and mind than most other options. The solution imo is to first find your own will in this world and then exercise your body and mind so you're able to carry out that will.
If only there were a way to inspire other people to develop their will in a similarly sized sound bite as “just lift bro”. It’s not like telling someone to lift isn’t also similarly challenging, tedious and time-committing.
In response to people who avoid their problems with delusions and numbing agents, perhaps you could say “just educate yourself bro” or “just think bro” or “just be less stupid bro”
We cannot give them step-by-step guides to start, though they must be available when seek them out. We must have some kind of simple command to ignite their kindling of despair, so to speak. Perhaps “just have faith in your potential to change your life bro” and “just have faith in your ability to seek solutions bro” “just cast off your delusions and fear not suffering bro”
Spitballing here
Yeah it's really difficult to give advice that would apply to every possible angsty problem, and I think in the end the best we can do is to really give personal advice to the friends who want it.
But I like your openers, though I would maybe make them a little more action-oriented like "just actualize your potential to change your life bro" or "just lift and think about what you're lifting for bro".
Most people who lift should be doing solo sports or crafts, society is just gradually filling up with confused youth obsessed with “growth”. Took two years of surfing everyday for me to snap out of it, but I’d say I am happier than any day when I was lifting or exercising for its own sake.
Woah there rickandmorty.
Obviously everyone at the gym would be joyous if you were right, but that's not the case. >Exercise better orients these chemicals to the chemicals' desired state.
Yeah, it makes you feel good. So do a million other things. But clearly there's more to it unless you're going to argue that slaves were always happy since they were always exercising.
Become more comfortable with your masculinity and do not feel the need to change it.
Being sensitive or emotional are still valuable as a men, we are not rocks we are human beings animals that feel pain and suffer just like anyone else.
Being more manly could lead you to being more aggressive or violent which I imagine is not what you want.
Good, and you're Adam. So, as long as you simply touch the apple and don't take a bite out of it, you should be good. The responsibility lies with you, he who take the knowledge unto him, and not the snake, who simply shows you that apple exists.
I would rather become more womanly. Being a woman would fit my personality so much better. I hate that we don’t have sci-fi level technology that lets us reshape our bodies as we see fit.
After how bad things have gotten, zoomers are interested in reclaiming their Masculinity. Millenials didn't even care about being a real man. They were all gay hipsters.
I don't really know what they mean by More Manly
All the actions necessary to appear more masculine physically are incredibly intuitive and the tales of manly men doing manly things are the deepest-ingrained within our narrative culture
Either they're severely stupid or they need to take and obey orders to feel confident in their actions which in itself is decidedly feminine
Fist of the north star.
Rokudenashi blues
Sakigake otokojuku
But mainly fist of the north star.

Jojo's bizarre adventure
Dragon Ball Z

All people who go to the gym have read/watched these and are manly to a certain extent.
Dont forget hokuto no ken.
I go to the gym and I've never read or watched this jap shit.
I detest men. I wish I could rape and kill all of them. Torture them.
I wish my manager was a gymchad but he's just a fat dude
He most probably fantasizes about sodomizing you with an 8 inch turd while you sleep.
every single person in this board is a man
So is that poster, lol.

Gay

Grandma what did she do??
grandmas feed you too much food when you pay them visits, or so it is told time and time again for humorous effect.
Imagine being such a fricking autist that you refuse your grandmother's kindness because you're on a cut. Black person, live life.
>live life
Gayest advice of all time.
lol
I'm literally at my grandma right now eating cake.
Can I have a bite?
Well there's more to it than bench pressing. Start with the Greeks and the classics.
Just read this.
do not read this
it's argument is that the internet is turning people into mass shooters. It's full of dumb assumptions and casuitry. waste of time
Why does the opening remind me too much of Jordan Peterson? I'm getting a red flag here, anon
Anything by Jack London. Manliest guy in America.
If you need to read a book for that it was never gonna happen.
Anyway: King, Warrior, Magician, Lover is pretty good
Boys need to have a strong male role model for it to happen. Given as that's lacking today, books are a good way to start your journey. Trial and error is the best teacher though but it's a hard life.
Books about being okay being less manly despite your social environment being chauvinist hell?
Bingo
You don't need books for that. You just need to take risks. Put something on the line. Even if you lose, you still risked something
To become manly you need an older male lover like the Greeks
This is probably true, unironically
King, Warrior, Magician, Lover
Way of the Superior Man
The Courage to be Disliked
>King, Warrior, Magician, Lover
Seconded.

I like lifting I hate homosexual lifting culture + rhetoric.
I don't like lifting but the culture is sick

Good posts. Lifting is still good for health but don't expect physical activities to cure spiritual ills.
You are a bag of chemicals.
Exercise better orients these chemicals to the chemicals' desired state.
Anything else is prevarication.
I am a biological machine. Pain is real, but always less real than it was yesterday, and more real than it needs to be.
Woah there rickandmorty.

/misc/ shouldn't be amongst the demons. Without pol I wouldn't have seen the truth of this world.
The issue is that /misc/ offers no practical solution and entraps you still in the material world. That's why it's still a demon.
You're projecting your experience with /misc/. unto mine.

disregard this post, a roastie wrote it
I'm a man but ok. I finally see now, you're moronic.
I'm not protecting anything, it's an objective assessment. If you disagree, explain using arguments.
This. /misc/ is half-baked shit, and it overcompensates for not having the other half by cramming hate and anger down your throat.
It's a destructive community. It's not a place I'd recommend anyone stay for long, it's a pit stop at best on your journey to the actual truth.
/misc/ is the snake at the tree of knowledge

Good for you anon! I'm trying to quit as well, but I keep relapsing 🙁
This very thread has been coming up at least every other day for like 2 years now. Are litizens this unmanly?
reading is for homosexuals
the irony of losers on IQfy having a masculinity crisis of all things LOL
After how bad things have gotten, zoomers are interested in reclaiming their Masculinity. Millenials didn't even care about being a real man. They were all gay hipsters.
no, we just do it effortlessly and dont need some homosexual book to tell us how to be men
>I speak for my whole generation and whe are manly
You are insecure and not as manly as you think
