>Orion and SigmaOS are exclusive to MacOS because they're built on WebKit
>Arc may as well be exclusive to MacOS with how half baked it is on Windows currently
>Firefox and all forks are pieces of shit that breaks every 2 months requiring a complete refresh
>Opera is a literal Chinese botnet
>Chrome is an American botnet
>Edge is has all of Brave's features but worse and baked into the Windows OS
>Vivaldi is ugly and slow
>Stack is freemium chromium shit that I'm not paying for
pic related is the only decent option unless I'm missing something so why does everyone give it so much shit?
tl;dr - I am unhappy with the state of browsers in 2024

I make fun of people shilling brave, but I both use it and shill it myself. It's definitely the least worst option and the best browser for protecting normies too.
>willingly uses spyware
The absolute state of this board
The fact that Cloudflare blocks IceCat (and doesn't bloc brave) tells you everything you need to know.
t. dns set to 1.1.1.1
using icecat
sounds like a "you" problem.
>using 1.1.1.1
>not ControlD or NextDNS
kiss principle. set the router dns to 1.1.1.1 & 9.9.9.9.
It may not have the granularity of baking muh own but I literally don't have the fricking time.

I'll use the muh privacy equivalent when it stops bricking.

Good morning
>exclusive to MacOS because they're built on WebKit
Webkit is not exclusive to macOS.
Also Ungoogled Chromium mogs the ever living shit out of every other browser, and its lack of moron-friendly distribution makes for a great filter.
>Webkit is not exclusive to macOS.
Why the frick aren't there any Webkit browsers for Windows then? Why insist on using Chromium for every goddamn thing?
Very basic usage and common extensions like uBlock Origin and Violentmonkey for IQfyX I guess because it seems to break every goddamn time on every goddamn PC I've ever built in recent years on various installs of Windows 10/11 LTSB/LTSC. URL bar stops working. Pages stop refreshing. It sucks.
>Firefox and all forks are pieces of shit that breaks every 2 months requiring a complete refresh
How do you fricking manage to "break" Firefox?
Use ungoogled, Black person.
>use Chromium without any of the benefits
why wouldn't I use Vivaldi or Brave if I were going to use chromium?
and all forks are pieces of shit that breaks every 2 months requiring a complete refresh
I've been using the same install for almost two years now and it works fine
What are you doing that breaks every 2 months?
I'm currently using an install of nightly that's almost years old, with all the appdata files copied from an install that would be four years old as of now.
>I’ve been afraid to install security patches for my Firefox browser for two years
Case in point
Anon it auto updates.
Last update was april 29th.
I'm on Window and it auto updates too because I'm an updooter
>Firefox and all forks are pieces of shit that breaks every 2 months requiring a complete refresh
Sounds like a you problem. I have 690 tabs across 31 windows and it works just fine and has done so since I switched when manifest v3 was first announced.
Use Epiphany
Brave is the best option and it blows.
what's it take to make a good web browser?
I use librewolf and it's completely fine
>Firefox and all forks are pieces of shit that breaks every 2 months requiring a complete refresh
I have used waterfox for way longer and have had zero issues, stop going to shady eastern european porn sites.
Brave still installs it's VPN without your consent and its impossible to remove the service. Nothing I do works. It still shows up in the startup programs list.
I’ve been using Brave since launch on all platforms and it has never auto installed the VPN
people give it shit because of all the bloat it comes with by default, particularly the fact that everything is toggled on. if everything was off by default (wallet, sidebar, ai etc) i guarantee people wouldn't give nearly as much of a frick because when turning all of those things off and never touching them, it's by far the best option out there. its sync is incomparable to everything else, due to the simple fact that it doesn't require an ((account)). meanwhile, you can't even use the arc browser without an account roflmao
brave it better than chrome because it has vertical tabs, better than edge because in order to debloat edge as much as humanly possible it would take you somewhere upwards of 3 months of toggling in the billion of options that piece of shit has added over the years and better than firefox because, well, i like actually being able to load the websites i visit
nobody who uses opera and vivaldi has an opinion worth considering, as those are simply worse versions of edge/chrome
>brave it better than chrome
brave IS Chrome. FTFY
I use Brave but I hate what anon mentioned, all the options that are toggled on by default.
I used to use Chromium but I kinda trust the racist Brave CEO more than random Chromium build maintainers.
>default settings matter a lot
no shit sherlock
aggressively anti-user defaults are a symptom of a bad company (see Chrome) that you should avoid interacting with as much as possible
ok then what the frick do you use, genius? every option does this. I'm simply saying that after turning everything off, brave remains the best choice
I don't know what they did to Edge, but recently, going full screen with videos on X or youtube would crash my PC
Yes, brave works really well on my phone too. It's no more slows
>Shilling brave
