Check out the sticky thread. Those are not books for "beginners", you should start with these

If you’re older than 20 don’t even bother with any of those. Their prose is simplistic and the narratives are weak. Read the Apology.

That's the point moron, it's a beginners kit. It's aimed for beginners.

      >American Psycho
      >Fear and loathing
These don't belong. They're both painfully bad. 1984 is poorly written too, but at least the ideas keep it interesting.

The rest are good enough to be somewhat rewarding in their own right. I would only read them if you're actually interested in enjoying the act of reading though, IQfyizens shouldn't waste their time with such works, and should instead focus their time reading books that will make them seem well educated.

      Catch-22 isn't simplistic, it's a good introduction to non-standard narrative structures.

I actually started with American Psycho a few years back and I think its a perfectly fine starting point if your a big fan of the movie. Otherwise avoid it because its not that good if you dont see the comedy in it. Although if you dont you are probably soulless.

I haven't seen the movie, but the movie is probably better. The book is too repetitious, it becomes tiresome after a few chapters. Also it's 'you're.'

Mishima is pretty accessible. If you’re a deeply neurotic closet homo. I.e. most of this board then it will feel like you’re reading your own thoughts.

Dumas, Junger, Fitzgerald, Orwell, Tolstoy, Zamyatin, Hemingway, Kerouac, Thompson, Steinbeck; these are all good places to start.

Don't get bogged down by the elitism of IQfyizens the names don't matter. Do what you would do in real life read the summary and see if it captivates you.

But if your a vidya guy then the scifi genre probably would be the most accessible.

    I recommend

Also, keep in mind that your reading level is probably low, so keep it simple. Don't rush to DFW or Hegel when you can't pay attention enough to get through Kerouac.

Why are bunny ears so much more cute than cat/dog/raccoon ears?

    [...]

I dunno, I think cats are cuter than bunnies. But bunnyboys are cuter than catboys. It's something about the ears being tall which is appealing for some reason.
