I started reading this on the recommendation that it was similar to Borges, whom I love, and this guy immediately slept me.
Easily one of the most boring writers I have come across, and I am only 2 pages in. How is this possible? How can you bore the reader given such subject matter?

Go watch some tiktok videos zoomer & maybe read some colleen hoover.
Translated Calvino probably does not work.
But I read a lot of translated fiction. None of it is written so yawningly.

That's fine, go read neetse or something.
First explain to me how a supposedly first rate writer write so blearily. My conclusion is that he is not a 1st rate writer.
You're a Zero. Your opinion means nothing. Fricking two pages..
Mad cuz bad
By boring you the frick out? I have read a good deal of metafiction yet I haven't read anyone who was as boring from the get go. Calvino is the 1st writer to make this sort of book boring for me.
What makes a first rate writer in your mind? The way he plays with language and concepts is sublime.
Not him, but I consider Hesse to be a topshelf writer

Bad news. You're moronic.
>29th June, Leopardi's birthday
>no Leopardi thread in the catalogue
I'm fairly disappointed
Giacomo leopardi? He would prefer not to have been born.
>I am only 2 pages in
You’re supposed to try reading at least 100 pages before throwing a book in the trash. Maybe reading isn’t for you!
That's half the book...
And?… Can you not follow words on a page towards the next page until 100 pages in?
I've just started reading "If on a winter's night a traveler", and I'm really appreciating it. One would be better served by reading a few other of Calvino's stories before it: get a sense of him first and then you can better appreciate the funky and meta flavor of "If on a winter's night a traveler". I recommend "The Cloven Viscount" and "The Baron in the Trees", which both exist well on their own as lovely stories without any strange postmodernist structure.
Not OP, but if you want something that's really wacky you can also jump straight to Cosmicomics.
