Can someone tell me the difference between these two...

I bought both because I saw my friend had the definitive version and I thought it was more up to date so I got it. I'm a recent convert to Catholicism so I'm a bit confused as to how catechism can be updated. Arent they supposed to be definitive summaries of the faith? If they can be amended and changed how can they be used as a guide to informing Catholics of the faith.

Questions, questions, questions.

You are holding the phone flat when you point it down at something, but not properly flat. So the phone it thinks you're looking at it from the lowest point of the phone, and the phone rotates 'up' to the side. Tilt the phone slightly towards you before taking the picture.

OP here and this is me but I'm not reading Aquinas. I actually wanna set a good foundation by first starting with the catechism and basics of the faith before moving on to more complex theologians like lonergan, Bellarmine or the big man aquinas himself.

it's a different edition of the same text. The green is cooler looking.

Hope I was able to help you!

Whats the point? Seems a bit unnecessary.

    >. I'm a recent convert to Catholicism so I'm a bit confused as to how catechism can be updated.
The classes you have to pass to convert would have told you if that were true. In fact, any novel about recent converts would have told you how to lie better.

      >I'm a recent convert to Catholicism
You're a recent convert to LARPing that you love Jesus and possess virtue?

if OP is a recent convert, then why is he struggling to find a catechism to read? He has a priest doesnt he? He sounds like he is still making up his mind and isnt actually going to church and developing a relationship with his priest through confession, but is instead trying to proudly know it all before he even begins. No humility in the OP.

Why is everyone here trying to psychoanalyse me? Anyways, I've already found a catechism but I just wanted to know the difference between the two. If I was really being pretentious then I would have got the summa of Aquinas and ask people which translation is the best. Besides, I am invested in my local priest but thought a catechism would be the best place a catechumen could go.

homie, I'm asking the difference between two version of the ccc. How can you even tell that?

People will claim to be Christian and then act like they can see into the hearts of men like they're God and make judgements about your whole life and reason for conversion based off of a few lines off of the internet.

Also, my Catholic friends continued attending Anglican services even after conversion due to the community they had built up there and they had issues leaving. It happens, it may not be familiar to you as a cradle Catholic but going to a new environment by leaving a familiar one is really difficult. Now that I am away for uni it has been somewhat easier since I'm away from my community and everything here is foreign.

            >act like they can see into the hearts of men like they're God and make judgements about your whole life
I described your actions. If you are reading catechism on your own and exposed to the faith, that's eroded your invincibility from ignorance. It's facts you have admitted to, actions you have taken, despite access to catechism.
            >my friends did it too
Really? That's what you're going with?

Based Black Catholic poster. The difference between the two is the green version is much more complete while the other one is more condensed.

      > The Catholic catechism was published in Latin as the "Editio Typica". This text is the English translation of the "Editio Typica" and includes a 64-page readers' guide. There have been some changes, including: the original sentence on criminal punishment has been omitted, reflecting a developing consensus within the Catholic community against this practice; a reference to angels has been dropped in a passage where it was not necessary to the main point and so was distracting; there is a more nuanced approach to some sexual issues, with a greater emphasis on psychological and social factors affecting the relative culpability of certain acts.
This is what the Amazon description says. Seems like a bit more than a condensing.

Well worth it though. The commentary is great. It pairs perfectly with the Didache Bible. The two together can get a new Catholic a long way on their own. After that if they want to dig deeper I'd go:

Fundamentals of Catholic Dogma by Ott
Sources of Catholic Dogma by Denzinger
The Faith of the Early Fathers Set
