Capet Dynasty

Its funny to me how the Capets did to the Karlings what the Karlings did to the Merovingians.
Karma.

    Capetians were pretty cool
    >Preserve the hearts of kings
    >Referred to themselves as the third race of kings (Merovingians being the first race and Karlings being the second race)
    >Went full dynastic dominance with their princes of the blood and granting of senior titles to fellow Capetians

Were? They're still around. The last western monarchy is Capetian.

Does the British Monarchy not exist to you

        >Its funny to me how the Capets did to the Karlings what the Karlings did to the Merovingians.
No they didn’t. The Capets were a relative branch of the Carolingians.
The Merovingians and Carolingians were not related that we know of. Unless you can provide a citation.

The Carolingians were overthrown by Hugh Capet. They weren't dynastically part of the family and nobody thought of them as such

Calling it a monarchy after Richard II is a stretch

Portugal's first king, King Alfonso I of Portugal's great-great-great grandpa was King Robert II of France.

Robertians aren’t Karlings. The Capetians aren’t agnatic descendents of the Karlings and cognatic descent is meaningless since pretty much every dynasty is a cognatic descendant of the Karlings.

Don’t bother, these people are morons and will ignore how the basis for many major claims to European thrones were based on maternal descent but you need to le heckin hate women dude so it doesn’t count

Cognatic descent is meaningless. FFS my family is a branch of the Karlings, Capetians, Plantagenets, and Wittelsbachs by that fricking logic. Wow I must be of such royal blood and not descended from generations of peasants and dirt farmers.

Paternal vs maternal descent isn’t as important as proximity. Proximity, or lack thereof, is why you’re a peasant today, not maternal descent.

Robertians and Capetians also weren’t close to the Karlings. What mattered for them was specific position within the kingdom.

I mean, yeah? That's how it works. The Vatican subverts the first dynasty, they pay the second to ape out at the first, then the third one comes in and stabilizes the situation. That's how the destruction of civilizations works.
