I gave in and have an iPhone now. It's okay. You can get AltStore so you can still get APKs like free YouTube Premium and the navigation grows on you, but I miss a lot of android features.
That said most people here with an Android probably are in worse shape on the data collection front than itoddlers. Google is an actual proper data broker type company. On iOS any app you install has to ask you for permission to access any data with an OS-level request notification and you can deny access or give custom limited access EG only giving reverse image search the single image instead of your gallery.
A ton of anons here are just rocking a flagship Galaxy or Pixel and you're going to be bleeding a lot more data on average than iOS users unless you're heavily customizing your android phone.
Still if you don't care about dating girls who think Android is icky than the average IQfy user should stick with Android
Stuff like the single image permission exists, the difference is that Google (wants|needs) to provide backwards compat for (old apps|data harvesting) so it's opt in instead of being the only API available
So now you have apps that ask for single images (delegate to the OS for image picking), some ask for gallery, some ask for filesystem
Some versions like Graphene can fake this with storage scopes
Unfortunately iOS will never let you deny network permissions which makes it a non-starter to me
