Christians are nihilists. They do not believe the physical world matters, their paramount concern is getting into the afterlife. A Christian doctor has no reason to cure disease because there is already no disease in heaven, a Christian soldier has no reason to fight for his homeland, because he believes only in the kingdom of God. A Christian has no reason to be a climatologist, since Earth is just a stepping stone to heaven. The physical world does not matter to Christians. And to Christians, human accomplishments mean very litte, since humans are only capable of doing what God has allowed man to accomplish.

A core component of Christian belief is that at best works advertise a belief, but it is the belief that saves, not actions. Only ineffable "grace" saves you from eternal torture. Nothing you can do can possibly save your own soul. You just have to hope you're one of the ones God smiles upon.
