computers are on the way out

>zoomers barely use laptops and desktops outside of the classroom anymore because a phone is enough to browse social media
what are the political implications of this?

The political implications would be disastrous.
Smartphones are only good for social media. They are limiting compared to Windows Pc, Linux, Laptops/Macbooks.

If zoomers can't use computers then they can't create programs, Media, Music, and zoomers will lose control of what they can do with technology if they become computer illiterate!

One rule of computing that has remained constant is bigger computers have more power.

I’m the 1970s we had computers the size of a room with less power than an iPod nano. Today we still have computers the size of a room doing giga peta flop calculations. In 50 years that will fit in an iPod nano.

But smaller computers are taking more and more market share. Eventually a phone will be able to run in “desktop mode” when connected to a larger screen and that will be sufficient for most studio level users.

Samsung has that now with shitty functionality. Thats also the goal with the Ubuntu phone os and its convergence feature. It seems like something Windows wants to work for with the UI shifts in OS design. A smartphone with a desktop mode OS that comes with a tablet and laptop dock to expand its functionality seems like it could fare well, I'd be willing to get one with a real desktop experience

There's a hard physical limit on transistor size isn't there? Which is why the quantum meme is getting more attention

Quantum computers (once its consumer friendly to build) will be the new thing. Video games and "how good it looks" will be a moron task compared the actual potential of this equipment

The upcoming depression is going to actually have some decent vidya now that corporate cancer is focusing on mobile development. Toil in the fields all day just to play 10/10 games made by devoted autistic developers in the evening. The future is bright...

Eventually computers will be tiny and everywhere. Systems on a Chip will be hated by enthusisasts who identify in the assembly of generic parts, but they're the future. They're more affordable, they're faster, and they're more energy efficient.

I think there will be thin clients and servers.
Consumers will only have access to thin clients, all calculation is done in the cloud.
It's more efficient, and easier to manage.

Modern VR is as popular as it will get until something about the software changes significantly, and has been for 5-10 years

    It's actually shocking.

I have a 7 year old brother in law and he doesn't know how to use analog controls whatsoever and flat out refuses to learn. Cannot read/write, type, use a controller or anything like that.

You know what the little shit does to browse content?

    He uses voice search.

I bought him Minecraft and gave him my old Xbox One for his birthday recently and the little homosexual chooses to play the mobile version because it's easier for these kids to just jam their finger into the screen directly on what they need to interact with, than to learn basic hand/eye coordination.

I've given up trying to teach that kid anything.

If the zooms stop using computers, can we set up a side internet that can only be accessed by desktops and go back to the early 00s online gamer culture?
