I just visited Grant’s Tomb today and the nearby riverside church and was blown away. I think it’s beyond dispute that the West has not built anything to rival what it built before the 1940s and that it cannot build anything comparable nowadays. The austere glass and steel superstructures don’t compare to the sublimity and beauty of neoclassical and gothic buildings, especially the more ornate ones in europe.

It's the same elsewhere. Paris outside of the tourist quarters is just a slum and British downtowns are a joke. Eastern Europe is fricked for obvious reasons. The only ones who managed to keep their cities relatively beautiful are the Southern Europeans.

Always astounding to see how divorced from reality some foreigners on this site are. I'm not some Europhile desperate to be grouped with you lot, but it is absolutely beyond any sort of denial that America is not an independent civilization in its own right; we are one with Europe. Everything nasty that has happened to us has also happened to that continent in recent decades, it's simply inescapable. You can keep wishing for an American collapse if you wish, but don't act surprised when, once again, it results in the same happening over there.

That's irrelevant, the Latins and Greeks did not identify as being "EVROPEAN BROTHERS" with blond øogå böogas dwelling in German forests. Greek sculpture traces its origins to Egypt, the Mediterranean world was interconnected with the Middle East and India (see also Graeco-Buddhism). Europe outside of Italy and Greece was piss poor frontier land. There is nothing "organically rooted" about Swedes and Englishmen using Classical architecture either.
