That's pretty cool, is there a feature like that in Firefox that lets you see how much memory a page is taking up?

I think there is an about:something that tells you the memory used by each tab.
But to be honest, I dropped firefox a year ago.

Firefox was crashing twice a day for me, and it reaches a blood boiling point that I said enough is enough. Unfortunately Mozilla doesn't care about their main product stability...

F12 then memory tab, tree view and click on save. That'll get how much memory is using at the current moment.

WHAT THE FRICK IS THIS SHIT

I did the math a few weeks ago, and IQfy is using about 50–100 MB per tab. How does that compare to the actual data on the page (html and images)? About 10000–100000 times (!!!!!) more. It's not just twice, not 10, not even 100 or a thousand. I had to check the calculation multiple times.

it really takes talent to make a website as simple as 4chin use 100+mb

I don't care that much because I have 128 GB of RAM and can deal with it for the time being, but still, how are these webshitters so fricking incompetent? I want to use this hardware to its full capacity, not have it shit itself after having opened too many tabs. It's mind-blowing. Imagine just wasting 100,000 of the memory and processing power you actually need for no fricking reason. So you have access to space ayylium tech, and smart people have already figured out the computer science theory, engineering, hardware, etc., and they found a way to paint a trillion transistors on a chip the size of a toenail. But then you have these "maffs raycis yall" nepo baby normaltards who think Fizzbuzz and XOR are "higher maffs n shiet for stinky incels" and have no idea what "mega" (or mibi) really means. I could show you the contents of two books on this page with 1 MiB because it quite literally means a million bytes or characters uncompressed.

still blocking all jeetscript if your website breaks I will simply not use it.

        >Unused RAM is wasted RAM
Unused RAM is a contingency for when you eventually have a high load of memory (or if one of your sticks fails for some reason), but I admit there are some currently low benchmarks and peak use times that support the spirit of your sentiment.

      >infinite scrollable
No such thing as infinitely scrollable, 64bit computers can support ~19 exabytes of memory at most if you assume the theoretical maximum of what OPs computer is possibly running, and the site doesn't have enough content to serve.

Most of the time it's all the absolutely moronic 3rd party scripts you have to load because management got bamboozled by some snake oil salesman and/or marketing need to track more data to justify their jobs

          Anonymous

React is usually pre installing those scripts and those API calls are not using that much memory.

Jquery is unironically worse because back in the day people would force the browsers to fetch all jquery / bootstrap from source for EVERY SINGLE PAGE

Guys we need more infra so our users can view uncompressed PNG files of 500*500px and up

You just host the images on a basic ass cdn and then use basic url params to not fetch 4000x 4000 images unless your users need to zoom in on some dogs butthole. Or is the solution to host every single variant of a jpeg yourself?

Looks like a problem with your browser. I can't get Dailymail to go over 250mb of used memory per tab myself. Though it makes sense for it to be a memory intensive website since they have videos on just about every article and videos up the ass.

except those videos, code, images, etc. don't need that much space. They're israelites so they compress everything to shit and most of these videos I imagine are less than a MB. Most of those images are like 50-100 KB. As for the rest of the context (which is just text):

Probably Safaris fault. Apple doesn't adhere to standards so every library has to reimplement most of the stuff the better browsers could do natively and more efficiently
