I want real information with evidence to support these claims (disassembly preferred) not some "this is how I think this works" bullshit. I think the main reason nobody cracks Denuvo is because there's so much disinformation surrounding it

protection works by encasing the file in a custom virtual machine and using various methods to obfuscate the code and data. downside to this method is performance of code is dramatically reduced and game developers eventually remove it due to performance problems or because it got cracked
and denuvo couldn't guarantee protection for first month. (not even kidding - even they only have faith in it lasting one whole month).

if it was that easy then any moron with a tool from github could crack it. the protection tries to make such analysis difficult but not impossible. unfortunately for morons you still need skills at x86 assembly language to get anywhere. no one click tool for spastics exists (yet) - doubt one ever will.

Not really, same as AV's you need to feed it the newest trends for that to work, if someone decided to go with a new approach you will have to retrain it all over again.

Denuvo checks some PE headers, uses that and some other internal shit and your HWID to "phone home" (they provide servers for Steam and EA - codefusion and novafusion), in return it gets a funny file which it uses to scatter "magic constants" byte by byte. Then you have 2 VM types, one is almost identical to advanced of VMP3, meanwhile other looks like stranger and more annoying variant of advanced. Denuvo gets constants from those scattered "magic bytes", usually a next jump destination once per VM, must happen before non-mandatory outside vm call (ie not check stack and memcpy). There are no cracks because this bs takes time, time which nobody is willing to spend. You can watch ELF's Tiberium Reversing part 4, main concepts are the same, I was surprised to see that they still apply today. VMs themselves have changed as I said, main changes are: VREGs are scattered byte by byte. Two types can be determined by *8 or *4 jumps, all VMs seem to read from the same table.

binaries are big because it takes about 100 instructions for one real one INSIDE THE VM HANDLER. Also there are about 10 permutations of each opcode for each VM, not to mention there can be multiple VMs for one function, especially when foreign calls happen. For a simple <100 instructions function I got traces which spanned more than 4k instructions (including memcpy and checkstacks), don't remember if it was 4k+ or 40k+. And yes, their obfuscation engine is slightly painful to read, but not as painful as their VREG scattering, reading traces is relatively easy, but making sense of what the function is doing is hard because of how VMP works and because of the sheer size of the trace.
