No lol china is held back by communism which is a westoid ideology.

Have you read Lu Xun? China is not "held back" currently in any way. They were held back from developing when they still had those civil service exams based on Confucius and other traditional literature and those 8 legged essays.

Those were the remnants of legalism, which was appointed as the official doctrine by qin shi huang, who also tried to exterminate confucianism.

Confucius didn’t support exams. All he did was suggest a moral government where ministers work loyally for their monarch to better their people. The issue with Confucianism is with people treating a philosophy like a religion. It’s akin to if Stoicism became the state philosophy of Rome and every Roman governor, senator, and other politician needed to prove he understood stoicism eventually devolving to the point where you have to pass exams to prove you understand stoicism before you can be a tax farmer.

I understand that. But Confucians did.

            *neo-Confucians
Classical Confucianism was dead by the time they were implementing the exam system

Sure, but that doesn’t mean its an intrinsic property of Confucianism and it can’t reasonably be blamed on Confucianism as its doctrine.

In essence even if Legalism won out it’s liable that they would have developed the same shitty system of exams which is likely due more to the nature of China’s imperial government than any traits of Confucianism.

His philosophy was to keep and preserve whatever “Four Olds” they still had. He is like a philosopher version of pic related, Sima Qian.

Absolutely, the Han race would be colonizing the stars by now had Legalism won. We'd be unearthing the mummies of Confucian dogs and launching them towards the sun, but alas.

What the frick made you form such a bullshit opinion, considering that it in fact won, but resulted in a social collapse 15 years later?

Did Confucius really look like a Fat Ugly Bastard?

Yes. but the essential cause of China's backwardness was the steppe peoples, who periodically devastated the Chinese civilization.
Confucianism was grown among Han Chinese to stabilize societies under the constant meddling from the steppes.

Confucius laid a basis for justifying what Euros would call Enlightens Despotism. His solution to shit leaders was to just have better Kings, capable of wielding absolute power. Now the problems to that kind of system are inherent.

He also justified age long patriarchy but..

      >His solution to shit leaders was to just have better Kings, capable of wielding absolute power.
Not really. His dialogues are more about how leaders in government should act and his ideology if anything is more along the lines of a ministerial monarchy like France under Cardinals Richelieu and Mazarin where a monarch good or bad is essentially led by his ministers of state who have the best intentions of the state and royal authority in mind.

yes it did, but Confucianism is also the reason China has lasted so long to begin with. Without Confucianism the Chinese/East Asian peoples would probably think and act in a manner so different from now that they could no longer be called "chinese" "japanese" or "korean" as we know it. Confucianism trades off technological and mental innovation in favor of conservative longevity.

No, it literally single-handedly holds China together for 3 millenniums. Hans without this agenda can’t really assimilate the steppeBlack folk in the north and mountainBlack folk in the south. Romans wouldn’t have fallen if it had an ideology like that.
