Did Evola live his ideas? I highly doubt it. Can you follow a mans ideas when he does not follow them himself?

Did Evola live his ideas? I highly doubt it.

He seems physically weak, narcisisstic (writing books, doing interviews), city-dwelling, and generally quite inconsistent with the whole 'hero' and 'absolute man' arcs.

Can you follow a mans ideas when he does not follow them himself?

He was very physically active before he got crippled by the bombing.
He used to climb the Alps with no rope, just as a way to challenge himself, train his concentration and his courage (he talks about this in many books).
His reasoning to walk around diring the bombing was, btw "I will never run away".
He's Kamina tier, if you are or were a weeb in your younger years.

      >He used to climb the Alps with no rope, just as a way to challenge himself, train his concentration and his courage
Interesting. Saw a bunch of climbing documentaries with IQfy-ish crowd the other day, and there were three about free soloers (people climbing on their own without ropes). They all go on about only feeling alive when they're right on the edge of dying. It sounds a bit like the people who surf 100-foot waves. (The whole mystical surfer lifestyle / philosophy seems absurd to me, but there we are.)

I respect mountain-climbing a lot more than just walking around in an air raid, though, because in the air raid it's pure chance if you get hit, whereas when you're climbing, it's all in your own hands (more or less).

    >Did Evola live his ideas? I highly doubt it.
He was one of the leading avantgardists in Italy, and had a reputation as a ladies' man. He spent most of his life importing and translating important authors to Italy to create a sort of right wing republic of letters. But it wasn't just right wing. He also launched Buddhist studies in Italy and majorly contributed to revitalizing orientalist studies there with his Doctrine of Awakening. The entire first generation of Italian Buddhologists were mainly inspired by that book even if they didn't know who Evola was otherwise. He was constantly productive.

He saw physical exertion as a form of yogic asceticism and climbed mountains. He travelled around Europe during WW2 trying to bring the Axis nations closer together, trying to teach the Italian Fascist regime how to understand National Socialist regime and vice versa, lecturing to German audiences about the universality of fascism and the need for a fascist brotherhood of nations. He visited Codreanu and Eliade in Romania too. He tried to turn the SS into a fraternal crusading order like a new Templars. While the bombs were falling as Italy was conquered by the Americans, he would go for walks as an esoteric experience, and ended up getting wounded and needing a wheelchair for life.

After the war he basically launched the entire Italian right wing movement and arguably was the most significant right wing intellectual organizer in Europe. He was also the inspiration for the MSI terror campaign and knew many radicals personally although I don't believe he supported such rash and arbitrary terror tactics. Overall his influence is intellectual. He worked ceaselessly to give spiritual and conceptual structure to whatever right wing movements existed, whether during the war or after it, even while most people were despairing of the possibility of a right wing politics after the total victory of liberal capitalism. Like he says in the preface of Revolt, he taught people how to keep the flame alive and to pass the torch to another generation.

Throughout the world there was only one national fascist party that called its members "fascists" (another party that echoed fascism was Mosley's party in England, which also called its members "fascists"), the Italian party. So, properly, the members of these two parties (National Fascist Party in Italy and British Union of Fascists in England) were the only "fascists" in existence. perhaps this is difficult for you to understand, since the left labels anyone who has been or is now right-wing as a fascist.
