The similarities begin and end with them both being literary memoirs. Knausgaard is horny, but nowhere near as horny as Miller. Tropic of Cancer moves through time in a more straightforward way, while My Struggle is more bouncing around through free association, at least in the first couple books. Still, worth checking out Knausgaard if you're interested.
When I'm doing housework or making coffee, yeah I find myself pretty boring.
Knausguard isn't talented enough as a stylist or interesting enough as a thinker to pull off the project. There are plenty of writers of the mundane. Eg Updike has a short story which is just an unnamed character playing solitaire, but he makes it readable. It's a skill issue
Couldn't finish A Time for Everything though -- thought it was incredibly boring (was the Hitler essay in book 6). Can seemly read endless amounts of his other stuff though and will probably read the Wolves of Eternity soon as well.
looking for thoughts on whether I should read the following books, which I own but seem to harbour some disinclination towards (for motives unknown):
- Susan Wise Bauer’s history trilogy
- The Truth About the Harry Quebert Affair
- A World at Arms
i read the first two and enjoyed them. i needed a break though. i can't imagine reading all six in a row.
Crazy how fast he wrote it. This is a great first page of a book.
Nah
Is this similar to Tropic of Cancer? I eventually want to get around to Knausgard, one of the few contemporary authors I have interest in

I'd rather read any decent fiction. Nothing's more boring than some random homosexual's life and thoughts.
So you didn't like ISOLT or Ulysses?
Conflating ISOLT and Ulysses to Knaushits’s schlock is just moronic and shows how unread you truly are
Ok Northrop Frye
Does that mean you find yourself to be extremely boring too?

I can be bored but I'm not boring t. Knausguaard
I want to and I have plans to.
Do you think I read?
How I would rank the series:
Some Rain Must Fall
A Man in Love
A Death in the Family
The End
Boyhood Island
Dancing in the Dark
Thoughts on The Morning Star and its sequel The Wolves of Eternity? I liked the atmosphere a lot in the first book
Read them all and The Morning Star as well.

There’s nothing gayer than using a photograph as cover. I hate it.
Started the first one. Couldn't finish it. It hit way too close to home.
