Pros: No one can see your screen.
Cons: Everyone thinks you're a pedo.

It's useful for browsing porn on public transit

My sister has it. You have to increase brightness by a lot, because it makes your screen super dim.
I don't see the point of using it tho. Just don't browse porn or sensitive info in public. If outside, enjoy being outside and leave your phone in a pocket.

      >Porn porn porn
Every thread on IQfy is just anons proving they don't have jobs or real lives.

        >you don't have a job or real life if you're not on a phone in public
Sad how society came to be. We used to enjoy our surroundings rather than hunch our necks to a phone when outside.

It aligns the crystals in the glass to the same direction, so when you look at it from an angle it blacks out. Most of the time it will black out from the left and right angles, but some can do top and bottom in addition to left and right

      so basically polarisation?

I would if they were more readily available. Usually I just buy whatever screen protector is available at a decent price.

But now that I think about it, if privacy glass+matte finish were more common I'd totally shell out the cash for something like that.
I'm always too paranoid to read manga/watch animu/shitpost when in public.

Con: if you have a fingerprint sensor under the screen it won't work through the privacy glass

      Anonymous

Yet another reason why under-screen fingerprint sensors are lame and gay (and slow and unreliable)

Why won't phone manufacturers just stick to the side mount or - heaven forbid - rear scanners? Why must they suck so much wiener perpetually?

or incorporate it into the home button like samsung did. Probably a "water resistance" thing

I think it's because apple doesn't have it. They don't want to add an "inelegant" bit to the phone if the iPhone doesn't have it.

          >inelegant
hey, Black person, what about placing it on the FRICKING POWER BUTTON? theres nothing to be INELEGANT when you cant even fricking see the thing
          WHO THE FRICK
          THOUGHT
          UNDERSCREEN FP SCANNERS
          WERE A GOOD IDEA
          WHO GETS PAID

Apple do monkey follow. Also less components. The side ones are fabulous. RIP.

        >UNDERSCREEN FP SCANNERS
Yes, and if you break your screen where the scanner is and you can't use pincodes (but could drag down top menu)? Too bad. Literally happened to my Pixel 6 Pro.

You have to keep brightness high most of the time, it dims your screen so much, specially under the sun. I wouldn only recommend use it for people that do require privacy measures and are not on that phone doing normie stuff, if you use banking a lot, or deal with hardcore shit as part of your job, go ahead, otherwise, don't.

I've used this years ago, the one con is that it makes your screen is dimmer even if you stare straight at it, which can be annoying.
