Drew apparently worked on a Wayland version of the Plan9 WM, and there's a Calm Window Manager (cwm) clone as well, but that one has a literal feminist Code of Conduct. Some other weird unique ones and others that are just clones of existing X11 Window Managers like dwl
Seriously, ditch wayland. Do yourself a favour. It requires 10+ years of work at this point if we're lucky.
Sway is i3 for wayland. You can for the most part reuse an i3 config with minimal changes. Its also stable and not likely to have any breaking changes, unless there's a big protocol change they feel they need to implement.
Hyprland is a dynamic tiler that isn't stable, you can have breaking changes any update. Its also more bloated but not as bloated as a full DE. Its got a plugin system where you can modify the behavior, like give it an awesomeWMs multi-monitor system. It's more likely to get new features quicker than sway.
Both are good options, depends on what you like.

I have an annoying issues with multi monitor and hyprland
sometimes the focus just isnt working. Like if I have firefox on multiple monitors, I might move my cursor to the third monitor and I cant open the url input area. It for some reason recognizes that my mouse is there, but it doesnt actually do what its supposed to do
only way I can fix it is my moving the window around which somehow forces the cursor in the correct window

It requires massive amount of preconfiguration and if we want linux desktop to be a reality we have to make an easy, stable and reliable working DE that just werks, not some tinker troony shit.

This is true. Just like that game engine I made, it was well made and I'm proud of it, but scrapped it once I realized how fricked the video game industry is. I regret not spending that time making something more useful.

Kde devs themselves understand wlroots based compositors should exist and are pushing the desktop forward. It's what valve uses for their compositor after all. They work with wlroots unlike other large linux desktop projects.

Tiling is the only way to allow for a purely keyboard centric workflow. Keyboard is a much older and much more natural way with interacting with a computer.

No. The regex search in CWM plus the keyboard window position/resizing absolutely works with overlapping window management and lets you maximise usage of the screen rather than filling it with whitespace.

Looking at vids it only tiles if you fullscreen the "group". Haven't seen what happens if you open another window while "tiled" but I bet the window is floating. This leads to a suboptimal workflow if you decide you need another window while already working on something. Also encourages using a mouse which is a waste of time and a fault of all floating window managers.
