ebay woes

This is my first time ever using ebay. I had just sold an item and mailed it out this morning when they suddenly permanently banned my account. What the frick is this? There's no information at all. I don't know what I did or why I was banned.

I don't even have the slightest inkling of what it could be, considering I only used this account to list a couple of items, and nothing else.

Also lmao at "this decision was not made lightly" fricking liars.

Just sue them for the value of the item since the money is now stolen.

I seriously don't know what to do. I tried emailin them and they replied back with that same fricking message.

      >anon was selling cp on ebay again

it was two video games I had listed for sale. One of them already sold and I already mailed it out.

did your account name, about page, item description, or anything else contain a word that might be considered naughty in [currentage]?
did you check inside the game case you sold, in case a previous owner left a baggie or something in there?
were you using some kind of obscure payment method that is often used by thieves, such as western union?
did you mention anything in the item description about paying privately to avoid ebay fees?

        Anonymous

Nope. None of those. And it couldn't have anything to do with the item because I just mailed it this morning.

I'm scouring the web trying to find some sort of number I can call but I can't find one.

ebay are notoriously difficult to deal with if you're a seller, theyre practically a set of crooks themselves

frick this, I'm filing a complaint with BBB like the other anon suggested. Frick them for this, it should be criminal.

How are they allowed to just completely lock you out of your account and indefinitely hold your money with no explanation and no way to contact them? It should be illegal.

The BBB? What are you, a boomer? The BBB has no power, they're literally a meme.

It's better than doing nothing, I suppose. What else do you want me to do? Just let ebay steal my money?

            Anonymous

NTA, but I've gotten a lot of shit taken care of with the BBB that otherwise was being ignored. It's at least worth a shot; it's a no-cost/low-effort way to try something before going the legal route.

Buyer probably contacted support and made up some shit, try complaining to BBB about it, seems they take notice of those: https://community.ebay.com/t5/Payments/Success-eBay-Refund-using-Better-Business-Bureau/td-p/34173738

unfortunately the only way to get any kind of support reaction of any kind out of these companies these days is to put them on blast on whatever social media account they have the most public eyes on.
if you didn't do something obviously wrong, make a histrionic tweet tagging ebay about how you signed up to sell your first item and right after you shipped it, ebay immediately closed your account and stole your money and refuse to communicate. tag FTC accounts. just make it noisy and look messy and spam it.
public shaming and schizo blasts are the only way to make companies respond because they don't want to appear unresponsive in social spaces.
i'd say you have a 15% of recovering your money by any means whatsoever. they're bigger than you and will bury you the instant you become more than a minor annoyance.

Now that's a valid use case for reddit, make a fuzz over there and see what people say. I don't know what board you'd do that in, though. Maybe they have an ebay forum.

    >expecting a big company's support to do anything for you
    lmao
Hertz (rental car) is still regularly charging people who rent tesla EVs hundreds of dollars in fraudulent "gasoline refills" (where does the gas go, homosexuals?) and they just forward any complaints and attempts to remediate the obviously false charges to the trash bin. They don't care. You are nothing to them. If you give a company your credit card or your items or anything of value, they can steal it and give you nothing and you can do nothing in response. You are fricking dirt.

I was using legitimate Ebay Gift Cards to purchase stuff for a while.
        >eventually they started blocking my purchases using these gift cards (a vague non-specific error)
        >each time, I had to reach out to support to make them unblock the gift card
        >eventually get frustrated, ask for a permanent fix so I don't have to spend 30mins with saars to make a simple purchase
        >block account
        >call them, go through some saars and escalate higher and higher because they wont tell me why they blocked my account
        >reach highest level, "cannot go any higher"
        >account still blocked, no explanation
        >still $29.99 on my gift card
Frick 'em. I imagine they've racked up quite a bit of money doing this shit to people.

You can't. Using Ebay waives your right to a trial, you need to go through arbitration in California and you never win. They just point to the TOS and tell you to frick off.

the amount of scammers that have tried to use ebay to swindle others over the years, you can bet it was something like that which set off their red flags

drop a couple hundred to initiate a lawsuit, they'll have to at least provide a statement in response, then you can drop the lawsuit instead of wasting more money

ive been selling on ebay for years and never got that kind of problem, but let me tell you that their customer service is totally fricking useless unless you insist relentlessly until your problem is solved.

Unfortunatley in your case there is no way to talk to a human since you need to be logged into your account to select the option "have us call you"

The only thing I see is that you try creating a new account without getting banned and you select the "have us call you" method, if it is available for new account, and talk to a streetshitter about your issue. but believe me, you need to repeat things a billion times otherwise they will not get it and they will repeat every 30 seconds moronic bullshit like "thank you for telling this to me, rest assured, we are specialists and we will do everything in our power to help you, so please do not worry, we will solve this together, ok?" without actually solving anything. they just repeat all the time that they will help you and not to worry without actually helping until you agressively insist that they do something, and evne then, they just dont get it until you repeat a billion times

    good luck anon

The deeper problem is that governments are allowing corporations to do whatever they want in tos, employee agreements, etc. Compounded by the fact that courts are only available to the wealthy. Both are bullshit, and are why I no longer give a shit when people steal from corporations.

I will never sell shit on eBay again, and have also mostly stopped buying. There’s still some shit I can’t buy otherwise. But my purchases went from thousands of $ per year to less than $100.
